Finally, a proper sequel to my familial introduction!

One day I may actually finish "Rune Factory 4 Special." Hahaha... (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ

Also, I swear it feels like "Rune Factory" is like the most obscure video game franchise or something. It's extremely difficult to find any info on these games, much less quality images. (Live picture of me trying to gather lore below:)

If there are contradictions between the lore I share below and the official game lore, etc., please forgive me. I tried my best to source things accurately. I have not played any "Rune Factory" game aside from "4 Special."

Also! I am not sure where to mention this, but I figure this is a good a place as any: all my fictional families exist in alternate timelines/universes for the most part. That's why you most likely won't see much cross-over between siblings from different familial groups. The only place that would really occur is in the "Gag Manga" AU where I just smush all of the family trees together. This isn't to say that one familial group is more valid than the other or less loved! They are sorted like this primarily because that is how they grew into being family members, with certain ties being linked to source material or my own mental musings at the time.

Porcoline Tulle De Sainte-Coquille (Rune Factory 4 Special) ~ husband (married 2021)

It still makes me so frustrated that you can't actually marry this wonderful man in-game! Why, Marvelous, would you create this absolutely goofy, flirty, compassionate man and then proceed to *not* let me marry him? We were robbed! ｡°(°¯᷄◠¯᷅°)°｡

Anyways. Moving on. ദ്ദി( T ᗜ T )

Porcoline is an absolute sweetie pie of a man, not only towards me, but the entire town of Selphia. He is always the first to lend his aid and gives generously without hesitation. Porcoline has such a joie de vivre that you can't help but feel lighter whenever he is around.

Porcoline is extremely romantic, always proposing marriage to me even though we've been married for a while now. It doesn't matter if we've passed a special anniversary or I simply complimented his smile, this man will clasp my hands in his and beg me to marry him.

"It doesn't matter [if we're already married]. We can always be double married! Triple married! Q-q-quadruple married?! (⁠´⁠⊙⁠ω⁠⊙⁠`⁠)⁠！

My head is starting to spin at plotting how we're going to make our Marriage-opolis work. That's a lot of wedding cake!"

If there was ever a person who embodied lovesickness, it's Porcoline. Some might call him cheesy, but it's all heartfelt and makes me feel very cared about. It's nice to have someone who is as eager to show their love, openly and without hesitation. One is never in doubt that Porcoline cares.

Porcoline is also very openly affectionate with all three of his adoptive children. It doesn't matter to him that they're all fully grown, this man usually has some little treat waiting for them, typically cut and peeled apples. This routine brings him a lot of comfort, as well as his habit of making sure he always has hot tea ready in case anyone, family or not, needs to vent to a listening ear.

One time, when Porcoline was feeling too sick to get out of bed, Dylas spent the whole day grumbling to himself as he looked expectantly towards the stairs leading to the bedrooms. I felt so bad seeing him brood and offered to watch the place while he went and fished for a bit. There weren't going to be any customers today anyway. I sent him off with some treats, but they were still untouched when he returned.

He got red and defensive when I pointed it out.

"Does it even matter? Hmph! Maybe I just wasn't feeling hungry!"

I knew better than to pry further, but I knew what it really was. Porcoline burst into joyful dramatics the next time he saw Dylas.

"You do care, Dylas! I knew you did. You can't hide behind that gloomy-cloud look forever."

"I don't c-care! I just like the way you cut the apples more than Margaret or Arthur."

I actually grew to love cooking because of Porcoline. Seeing someone being passionate about the art of cooking, transforming ingredients into dishes, making something that nourishes everyone involved... it rubbed off on me. I genuinely became a better cook because of my love for Porcoline!

So yeah, Porcoline is a wonderful person and an amazing husbando.(ˊૢᵕˋૢ)

Rosaline Organza De Sainte-Coquille (OC, Rune Factory 4 Special adjacent) ~ daughter (born 2025)

(I still need to make art for her... I'm noticing a trend here... (っ ̯ -｡) *sigh*)

Rosaline is our first (and only) biological child together. Not only because Porcoline already has a beautiful found family, one which brings us both a lot of joy, but also because postpartum always ends up being tightly woven into my fanfics.

Her name was heavily inspired by Porcoline's, so we pronounce it "rose-a-leen" as opposed to "rose-a-line."

Also, yes, I *do* realize that I have one fankid named Rosemarie and one fankid named Rosaline.

I have a great in-universe explanation for this. Since Rosaline was initially created before my "Gag Manga" AU existed, this doesn't matter at all in the original continuity. In the "Gag Manga" AU? I had been so mentally exhausted when choosing Rosaline's name that I didn't realize the similarities until the birth certificate was already filled out.

The actual reason:

There is a Rosalind De Sainte-Coquille in "Rune Factory 2," which I didn't know about when Rosaline was born, but that actually created a sweet, serendipitous tie-in. I don't know if we ever get clear confirmation on exactly how the De Sainte-Coquilles from the different games are related to each other, but given that Barrett is a character who appears in both "RF2" and "RF4S," at roughly the same life stage, we can assume that those games are set relatively close to each other in the timeline. Given that Rosalind is a young woman in her game, and Porcoline is around 40-50 as per my educated guess, I like to imagine they have an uncle and niece bond. Same with Rosalind's brother, Max, of course. Ergo, that is why Rosaline and Rosalind have such similar names.

Also, I was reading on the sparse wiki I could find, but it seems like all immediate De Sainte-Coquille family members (meaning parents and children) share the same middle name. I know that this isn't simply a part of their last name because different games have different middle names, like Panforte in "Guardians of Azuma" and Elarco in the original "Rune Factory." I break that tradition slightly, with Rosaline's middle name not being Tulle like her father's, but Organza. Still, they are both types of fabrics, and very similar fabrics at that.

Rosaline is always giggling and smiling, especially when I do tummy time with her. Of course, she has all the ups and downs that babies do. She is

Porcoline is extremely fond of talking to Rosaline, rocking her in his arms as he gives her all sorts of cooking tips and explains how to prepare some of his favorite recipes. She isn't big enough to understand any of it, but it is very heartwarming to witness how deep their bond already is.

Margaret (Rune Factory 4 Special, Rune Factory 5) ~ stepdaughter

Margaret is Porcoline's darling Meggie. Technically speaking, they're not related at all. She is a musician he sought out to play at his restaurant and she's also an elf, likely making her the older of the two. Still, Porcoline loves her like a daughter. He dotes on her and is extremely proud of how musically gifted she is. I'm certain he would do anything for her.

Margaret, in turn, sees Porcoline as a father figure and is probably the only person in this game that doesn't always make jokes about his weight. She genuinely cares about him, though that sometimes translates as lectures. Still, they come from a place of love.

Margaret is fond of both Rosaline and me. I think it gives her a sense of relief that we exist. She is always so anxious about the brevity of human life, knowing that she will outlive everyone in her little family. While it will never be the same, never be able to replace what's lost, Margaret will at least have a whispering of her parents whenever she looks into the face of Rosaline's descendants. I wish there was more I could do to put Margaret's heart at ease.

The two of us spend most of our time together, given that she plays at the restaurant and I help Porcoline with everything but cooking. Sometimes, on slow days, Margaret will try to teach me how to play one of her various instruments, but I'm sorry to say I am not as musically inclined as I'd like to be.

Margaret loves playing music for Rosaline and she hopes the latter will grow up to be a talented musician like her one day.

Dylas (Rune Factory 4 Special) ~ stepson

Dylas is such a tsundere. He pretends he doesn't care about anything, especially the people around him, but he is actually quite gentle and thoughtful.

He says doesn't really care for me, or Porcoline, and that he'll leave town as soon as he has enough money saved up, but somehow, that never ends up happening. He'll spend the money on a new fishing pole or grumble about how expensive it is to eat when you're on your own. Porcoline and I will exchange knowing looks, resisting the urge to smile. Porcoline will usually nod with a faraway look in his eyes and mentions that he'll have a hard time finding a waiter half as good as Dylas, but he supposes he will have to one day. That usually makes Dylas angry and he accuses Porcoline of trying to replace him before the latter bursts out laughing, which only makes the former angrier.

For reasons Dylas doesn't fully understand, he is Rosaline's favorite sibling. When she is older, they typically go fishing together on the weekends. That usually translates to Dylas doing all of the actual fishing while Rosaline collects toyherbs, embroiders, or rambles about her lessons with Arthur.

Arthur D. Lawrence (Rune Factory 4 Special) ~ stepson

The only human "child" besides Rosaline.

Arthur is actually a prince of Norad, but much prefers working on trade and harvest reports. He is an extreme workaholic and doesn't sleep for days at a time unless one of us forces him to rest. The task of doing so usually falls to me since I have the second softest aura besides Porcoline, who is the one who makes sure Arthur eats properly. Porcoline used to be the one to make Arthur rest, but given that he already has the stress of running the restaurant plus the aforementioned meal babysitting, I thought it was only fair to take on the task now that I am part of the family.

Arthur is extremely grateful for Porcoline and feels closer to him than anyone in his birth family. As for me, he likes me well enough. He sees how happy I make Porcoline and vice versa, though he is still somewhat skeptical about romantic love existing at all.

Arthur loves Rosaline dearly and spends hours tutoring her when she becomes old enough. He tends to get caught up in dusty books and theory but means well. Rosaline loves her big brother and is one of the few people that doesn't fall asleep when he rambles.
