Cooking Duty
Making stew with Rose for the entire base for the first time. Not even a week after I got off probation, Poe assigned me to cooking duty. I had been exempt from cooking duty the entire 3 years I was on probation due to the fact that there were so many items in the kitchen that could be used as weapons.
“So…you’ve never cooked before…in your life?” Poe asked.
“Not since I was 13 when I lived on Jakku, and that was just rehydrating Old Empire rations. Don’t think that really counts as cooking.”
“This should be interesting…so what are you planning to make?”
“Nothing too fancy, just a stew that Rose taught me. She’s going to help me.”
I had been chopping vegetables, but not really in the safest, most efficient way. I had limited experience with this (preparing meals for Ben on Exegol) and my movements were tense and stiff. Rose came up behind me and placed her hand on mine that was holding the knife.
"Here, relax your shoulders. Grip the knife like this." And she smoothly glided my hand forward and up, and away from my body. It instantly became easier to chop the vegetables. All the while, my stomach was doing somersaults. Rose's touch always sent shivers all over my body, but in the best way.

‘What’s wrong?’ Rey finally mumbles.

‘You’re tense. Is this not okay?’

Or perhaps Rose looks like a manic right now, still as a statue, breathing hard. ‘It’s good,’ she assures. ‘It’s nice. It’s just… I wanted a lot more.’

‘Like I wanna get off.’
Rey’s brow furrows. She processes for a moment. Then smiles again. ‘Of course.’ She pauses and sheepishly adds, ‘You can lead.’
