Feeding the Fox Goblin
I have shared very sparingly in the past about transformative spirit work I was undertaking with the aid of a slain fox. Since then, I have been given leave to share more directly about the nature of that work.
Last year, under the Auspices of Lunar Eclipse, and by the tutelage of one of my Witching Gods, I was led in the process of courting a Fox Goblin, with which I eventually managed to form a Famulus Compact. His working name, which I am able to share publicly, is Cornerstone.
I knew the time for this courting arrived when a fox was struck just outside our home on the very night I gave Housel to the aforementioned Witching God. And so, having retrieved and beatified its body necromantically, I harvested its right forepaw and preserved it in order to serve as the goblin's central fetish, as well as an operative tool which I can I use to stir and direct my ally in pursuit of foes and prey.
Just after erecting my Vulpine Altar, I stumbled across a boxwood Netsuke of a Kitsune (a Japanese fox spirit that I have come to see is nearly indistinguishable from the Fox Fae I have interacted with). When I discovered this wooden figurine, I knew it was meant to serve as a portable link to my ally's Altar Fetish, as well as a way to give blood to/make requests of Cornerstone when in need (in supplementation to the scheduled ritual "feedings" I give each year.)
Of all the spirits I've ever worked closely with, much less, formed a Famulus Compact with, none have possessed the sort of raw power I have witnessed in Cornerstone—though none has felt as dangerous or unwieldy to work with either. It has certainly been a balancing act to have such a powerful trickster as an ally. But the benefits for my work as a Pellar have been astronomical.
The pictures shared above show Cornerstone's Netsuke after blooding it for the first time. While I aimed to give blood to the base of the figurine (where I have given blood since then,) some small mis-movement on my part led to my blood staining his mouth. The symbolism of that, as well as the way it looked, struck me deeply, and I think these pictures reveal a small glimpse into the mischievous potency of this spirit ally.
