rex is a big cuddler! both platonically and romantically! he just is a very affectionate person all around and hugs and cuddles are a great way to show his love – and he has lots of love to give!

rex likes to just surprise you with hugs that turn into a cuddle session! you might be working on some papers when he suddenly hugs you from behind. and if he decides to pick you up and carry you to the couch, there isn't much you can do about it–

rex can't really keep his hands still when the two of you are cuddling. he can lay or sit still just fine, but he always has to have his hands either in your hair, playing with it, or gently rubbing your sides

cuddling is also a great time for the two of you to catch up! you're always busy with something these days, so when you cuddle together and have a moment to yourselves, you can update each other on your lives or make plans for the future, like where your next date should be!

From lighter moments tonally like “Wasn’t that play about Pyra?” (Which btw it wasn’t; it was about Mythra and even then, it was a rather loose account of things, judging what we see in the cutscene) “you should make things right be her” and then him not even knowing where to start,

things were pretty complicated for rex and his family. he knew that both mio and glimmer were out there, as soldiers and part of the cycle, yet he hadn't ever gotten to see you fighting alongside the enemy

so for the longest time, he just assumed you must've become a soldier just like your two sisters. until the day where the liberators found you and you joined colony 9…

rex had no idea how to deal with you at first! you weren't hostile, nor were you part of the cycle. you had no connection to a flameclock and instead had lived in the city. and you were the exact same age you were before everyone got assimilated into origin…

obviously, rex wondered if you perhaps remembered him. if you weren't a soldier and hadn't been brainwashed, maybe there was hope for you! but in the end, he found out the hard way you didn't remember him…

you had been told your family had died when you were younger. that's what everyone assumed, so it became reality for you. you had made your peace with that!

rex didn't want to burden you with the revelation that you still had family; that HE was your family, your father! and so he decided to keep it to himself and instead take on more of a mentor role for you

this way, he could be close to you and be part of your life, without causing you any pain or confusion

and over time, you even slowly began to see him as a father figure, not knowing he was your father all along…

a/n: i wrote this while waiting for my food to heat up :')

rex really should've known better than to let you cook for him…

maybe he was being blissfully ignorant or just truly thought that you would inherit your mother's cooking skills

but when he saw that plate of “food”, as you called it, in front of him, he knew he had made a mistake

he loved you and wanted to support you as you picked up cooking as a hobby! but rex wasn't sure if he could get that food down…

he wasn't even sure if you had properly killed whatever animal you cooked for him, as it still seemed to move!

only to then figure out there wasn't even any meat in it at all, only making him worry more about what was moving inside that dish…

still, you were his child! and if he had managed to stay alive after those multiple food poisonings mythra gave him, then surely he could endure this too!

slowly, he began to try a bite. and then he realized something: if he just took small bites, the flavor wouldn't be so bad!

so he began taking tiny bites, chewing on it until it lost all of its flavor and only then swallowed!

it was the same tactic he always had with mythra's food and it seems like he'd have to use this when you'd cook for him as well…
