6 REASONS NEW ZEALAND WOMEN ARE THE WORST IN THE WESTERN WORLD (A COUNTER ARGUMENT)
Return of Kings writer Hamish Rangi posted an article about a year ago named ‘6 REASONS WHY NEW ZEALAND WOMEN ARE THE WORST IN THE WESTERN WORLD.’ Said article can be found here: http://www.returnofkings.com/88196/6-reasons-new-zealand-women-worst-western-world. As a New Zealand woman - I of course laughed at the absurdity and then decided to counter his argument.
For a little bit of background, Return of Kings is a movement which pushes for the return of masculinity. On their website it states that homosexuals and women are not welcome to post on their website. Hey - that’s all well and fair, you’re an exclusive club. But I think it is fair that your readers can rebut on other mediums.
Let’s get to it:
1. New Zealand women are all ‘painfully average’.
Hamish’s first point was that NZ women are all painfully average looking. I would disagree, there are some beautiful New Zealand women out there but our real strength is that we are a diverse group of people. He also points out that other women in the Anglosphere are more beautiful. This is an odd point to make as New Zealand Europeans are 200 years out from arrival here - our European look is still very strong and we look just like our British ancestors would.
2. New Zealand women are sluts.
Here in New Zealand we are less conservative about sex than other countries which leads to us having more of it. We have shed most of the traditional ideas surrounding monogamy. Young women are free to sleep with as many men as they want. We have a high level of sexual freedom - but is this a bad thing? Not necessarily. Most of the women who have many sexual partners are young and not yet required to create the ‘family dynamic’. In my opinion, it is not harmful for a woman to enjoy the company of many men when she is young.
3. New Zealand women are aggressive and profane.
Yes, we swear a lot. When hanging out with our friends - it’s all good to drop a few f-bombs and c-bombs. It’s part of our social interaction; men are the same. However- in a professional setting this is often drawn in. There is a difference between being aggressive and using the terms loosely. According to Hamish, profanity is unfeminine. The people over at Return of Kings expect men and women to act in traditional roles. But what they don’t understand is that traditional values have been shed and men and women more often interact as two parts of the same whole - that whole being all people.
4. New Zealand women have poor style.
Hamish mentions that a lot of women wear beanies and hoodies for most of the year. We live at the bottom of the southern hemisphere where it is cold - and women are more prone to feeling the cold than men are. We dress for comfort rather than looks. I’m in a jeans and a jacket as I write this - because it’s cold. Does this guy honestly expect us to walk around in high heels and skirts when the temperature is freezing? However - when we want to; we often wear dresses and high heels; I don’t personally - but many women do. We do like to look good to impress people and express ourselves.
5. New Zealand women are too masculine.
He uses women’s rugby as an example here. Women’s rugby is not as big as men’s rugby. Due to the large part that rugby has in all our lives - it makes sense that we would have a national Women’s Rugby team. Contrary to what he says though - it is not pushed upon people. I was never once asked to play Rugby Union in my life - and my school didn’t have a girl’s rugby team. Also, not all female rugby players are butch and unattractive. They are more muscular due to training and they are very healthy. Being active is a large part of our culture. We have a beautiful country and it would be counter-productive to not explore it. We go hiking, swimming, kayaking. It is part of our quality of life.
6. New Zealand women are feminists and SJWs.
Not all. He uses women getting the votes as an example of our country’s idiocy. Women not having the right to vote is absurd - you are denying half the population the right to choose who runs the country. The SJW thing is a problem rising all over the world - it is not an issue unique to New Zealand. People need to learn and decide the truth for themselves - rather than subscribe to any particular narrative. Humans have critical thinking for this. And when he says feminism he obviously means neo-feminism; which is getting out of control.
Traditional feminists are healthy for a society, women being held back is non-productive to society and the individual. Women can do whatever they want to in New Zealand - we have high amounts of personal freedom. We could study to become an engineer, or we could decide to be a stay at home mother. The ‘family’ dynamic is not dying - it is changing with the times. It is my belief that women should choose whatever path they would like based on what they want and not what society wants. This goes both ways - if you don’t want to work in a traditionally male dominated field - that’s fine.
Conclusion:
In his conclusion Hamish pretty much says that any young man who believes in traditional masculinity should go overseas and find a woman. What he doesn’t understand though is that there are men who believe in traditional masculinity without it effecting their ideas of women. In my opinion, being a man and being a woman is now two parts of the same whole. As a proponent of personal responsibility - I see people as individuals and not a collective. We interact with each other as equals rather than having different worldviews. This is how society has become - and most men accept it.
