An unusual sign of surprise crossed his face as the picture of his son abruptly appeared out of nowhere. As the Chief of Staff continued on, he relaxed and leant on the table. Watching Sabo get enthusiastic about his son was a feast on the eyes as always. The big raise in Luffy’s bounty was to be expected, but he felt proud nonetheless. Maybe he had no right to be, since he had never been a father to the boy but fatherly instincts were hard to shake off once you obtained them.

" Im not crying. I just...got something in my eye " it's absolute happiness. Give him a tissue please.

A tissue box gently floated down from the sky, landing softly in front of the short child.

“That’s on me, so you can still wish for something if you’d like.”

“Yosh! I drew you without sleeves so you can see all the muscles!!”

     It was a THRILL to meet his eyes like this, even if the expression cast his way wasn’t exactly what he would have liked. Even still, a glare was better than nothing and after so long with exactly that  — nothing — Ace was willing to take whatever he could get. Still, the breath shuddered in his lungs when Sabo actually spoke, actually replied to him, that alone enough to have silver hues widening, feathers ruffled at his back, brushing along the floor, tickling at his bare ankles. 

     And that shock was NOTHING compared to the full on shudder that passed through him when the blond approached, when he actually touched him. Something that, until that very moment, Ace didn’t even know was possible. It left a vague sense of warmth at his chest, a tingling sensation that didn’t fade even when the raven moved to brush fingertips against the same spot, releasing a breath he didn’t even know he had been holding. He wanted him to do it again, almost DESPERATE for the contact after so long without anything, but that wasn’t the point here. Sabo was. 

     Some of his composure back, Ace still had to suck in another breath before he moved, a few cautious steps taken towards the blond, eyes meeting with blue. ❝I’ll be honest; I didn’t know that you could do that, but yeah...❞ He reached out himself, hand held hesitantly between them before the angel reached out a little further, hand gently pressed against Sabo’s chest this time, marveling at the feeling of cloth under his hand. 

    “Join the Revolutionaries, they said. It’ll be easy, they said.” 

     With a long-suffering sigh, Lami looked up from where she was greasing the cake tin, and was greeted with the sight of a burning bowl, the stench of acrid, choking smoke and a very panicked Chief of Staff who was screaming at the top of his lungs. She stiffened at the fire, her every instinct screaming at her to RUN, but Sabo’s screams snapped her out of her dazed, horrified stupor and back into reality. Lami dashed over to the sink, filling up a bucket of water and splashing it over the burning bowl of batter. 

     “You ate the Mera-Mera no Mi, you idiot!” Lami shrieked, straining her vocal cords. “Did you forget already? You burst into flames every five seconds            what in your right mind possessed you to make a cake?” 

“No. It isn’t. MY HAIR IS BLACK! THERE ISN’T EVEN A SINGLE BIT OF WHITE! I’m not getting old! You’re-- You’re just imagining things! Yes, that’s right! You’re imagining things!”

Runs away.

    Bewildered as he was just by Sabo being here, it didn’t take long to pick up on other things. He kicked his shoes off at the entrance, bag dropped from his shoulder and keys tossed onto a small table close to the door, and then he finally moved further into the apartment, a shake of his head given at Sabo’s appearance and words.

              ❝Seems like YOU had fun tonight,❞ he voiced with a hum,          small and amused. ❝Y’know, you could have just messaged me          instead of breaking in. And really, Sabo, that should have been          enough to tip you off that this wasn’t your place.❞
