#resist the devil

The Bible compares the devil to a rotating lion, in the prowl, looking for someone to devour.

Make no mistake, you are being hunted, but not by an animal. You are being hunted by the enemy of your soul.

He’s seeking you out to devour you, and to kill you. Nothing would satisfy him more than to see you burn.

But since you have been born again, and made alive in Christ (I assume you have if you’re read this long), he’s got to get tricky on how to trap you in his grasp.

Whether it be music, social media, food, movies, etc., there is not shortage of tools that enemy can use to get a foothold in your life.

Which is why the Bible tells us to be on alert, and to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17), so we can withstand his attacks.

But no matter how spiritually mature and ready we are, sin will always be kneeling at our door.

We must remember the warning that God told Cain after he became jealous of his brother. Sin sits at our doors, and we must learn to master it or else it’ll consume us.

This is why we must remain strong in Christ, and remain in the presence of the Lord all day, everyday.

How do we do this, by reading the good word, and practicing it. We do this by obeying the Lord when we feel his convictions. We do this by resisting the temptations of the enemy, and running towards the open arms of God.

And if you aren’t strong enough to conquer sin alone, don’t worry, because the one who is in you is greater than the one of his in the world. He will fight for you, you need only to be still.

Stand firm in the Lord, resist the enemy and he will flee from you.

James 4:7 (AMP)

“So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you.”
