Despite being in over 20 episodes, getting multiple Journal 3 mentions, having dialogue directly referring to him, kicking off the plot of several episodes, including Weirdmageddon, he is barely mentioned by the fandom.

The majority of Gompers focus from the fandom has been as the subject of theories trying to connect him to Bill Cipher, due to the similarities in their eye design. While not confirmed to be connected to Bill Cipher, it is stated in the Book of Bill that goat pupils do not change when he possesses them, possibly as a reference to the theory.

Although any connection to Bill Cipher is only speculation, he is supernatural in his own right.

Gompers first came to the Mystery Shack when a man attempted to pay for a tour with a baby goat. Based on Stan’s love of money, it can be presumed that he denied the offer; However the goat stayed, as confirmed by Alex Hirsch. By July 13th 2000, as seen in season 2 episode 8, “Blendins’s Game”, Gompers lives at the Mystery Shack.

In the present day Gompers is mostly a background character, only occasionally interacting with the main cast.

In season 1 episode 18, “Boyz Crazy” Gompers makes his first contribution to the plot. He chews off Ergman Bratsman’s license plate, getting him arrested and starting the conflict of the episode.

His second and more serious contribution to the plot is in season 2 episode 13, “Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons” when he attempts to eat Dipper’s 38 sided die. Dipper tries to get him to stop, causing him to fall through the roof of Ford’s lab. This begins the plot of the episode in which Ford and Dipper bond, allowing Ford to trust Dipper enough to help him repair the rift, leading to the beginning of Weirdmageddon.

All of this already makes Gompers an interesting character, but there may be even more to him than meets the eye. When asked about his opinion on Gompers, the official Bill Cipher Reddit account repiled “I LIKE HIM BETTER THIS WAY” implying he wasn’t always like this. In Journal 3 there’s a coded message on the page after “The Carny” page. After decoding the message it says “NEVER TRUST A WITCH SHELL CURSE YOUR EAR AND TURN YOU INTO AN IMMORTAL GOAT SO I HEAR” despite this not directly referring to Gompers, as the only goat in Gravity Falls we can assume that he was cursed, and turned into an immortal goat.

Maybe we’ll learn more about this mysterious goat, or perhaps he will remain one of Gravity Fall’s unsolved mysteries.

Loveland, Ohio 

The Frogmen that haunt Loveland ohio. They can’t be real can they? Well according to two policemen, a businessman and a young couple, they are in fact real. These leathery things allegedly haunt Ohio roads and country lanes. These creatures are known as Cryptids- ‘plants or animals that are not recognised by the scientific community’. There have been four known sightings of these Frogmen. 

The first took place in 1955. A businessman was driving down a road in Ohio, when he spotted a bipedal frog- a thing that uses only two legs. It was 3:30am when he spotted three of these frog-like figures, contegrated at the side of the road. The baffled businessman described them as 3 to 4 foot tall, with leathery skin, webbed hands, frog-like heads, deep wrinkles and he said he saw sparks coming out of the sticks they were holding. Do these creatures potentially have superpowers? 

The second sighting took place in March of 1972, at 1am. This took place seventeen years after the first appearance of the Frogmen. The story goes that a policeman saw, what he at first thought was a dog, crouched at the side of an Ohio country road. He stated that the figure had two legs and stared at the patrol car, just before jumping in front of the car. The officer said that the ‘thing’ ran down the embankment and vanished into the Ohio rivers. Later into the night, another officer investigated the scene and found nothing, apart from strange scratch marks on the side of the road. 

The third sighting occurred two weeks later. A police officer named Mark Matthews saw an injured animal on the side of a country road in Ohio. Matthews got out to assist the animal but it jumped at the him, so he shot at it. The description that Matthews gave matched the two other descriptions however, he stated that there was no tail on the strange animal. Weirdly, when Matthews reported the incident he said it was just a large escaped reptile, even though he originally stated that the thing was very obscure looking. One of his colleagues said that Matthews either had a change of heart, was mocked by co-workers or it was simply a faded memory. Matthews also said that it was “no monster”, he thought it may be a hoax. His story changed several times for whatever reason, why do you think he kept changing the tale? Was he embarrassed, made to feel like his story wasn’t real or was there a darker reason for his, almost instant, change of mind? 

The last known encounter of the Frogmen was in 2016, by a man named Jacob and his girlfriend. They were playing Pokemon Go, like most people were doing in 2016, when they spotted the same Frog-like creatures that had been spotted many years back. However, this was conspired to be a hoax as the sighting was in Cincinnati, not Ohio. All in all, this tale has no substantial video evidence, there is no American folklore to do with these Frogmen and they appear to have supernatural powers. On the first sighting, the witness stated that the group of Frogmen were holding twigs that appeared to be sparking electricity. So these creatures appear to have supernatural powers too?

How many of you have heard the saying, “I don’t see skin color.” or “America is a melting pot?” Pretty common sayings, yeah? Well, they’re also pretty common microaggressions.

University of Illinois Professors Harwood, Huntt, Mendenhall, and Lewis credit Black psychiatrist Chester Pierce for the term microaggressions. In 1978, in an effort to describe post-civil rights era race relations,  Dr. Pierce coined the term racial microaggressions, to mean “subtle, shocking, often ‘automatic’ and frequently non-verbal exchanges which are ‘put downs’ of Blacks by perpetrators.”

Over the years, microaggressions have been studied not only in terms of race, but also gender, sexuality, and disability. Minority and marginalized populations encounter microaggressions in almost every public sphere of life, from residence halls and classrooms, to workplaces and restaurants. But with so many people and so many spaces, how does one know when a microaggression has been committed?

The following three categories, microassaults, microinsults and microinvalidations will help to more easily identify the ways in which microaggressions function.
