Wrigley’s ACL repair surgery yesterday went beautifully thanks to Dr. Natalie and the skilled surgeon at @motherlodevet But get this… when they did his pre-surgical radiographs, they took a look at both legs and his OTHER hind leg’s ACL is completely blown too! The surgeon said this happened long ago before we rescued him (as evident by the bony arthritis that has developed throughout his knee and leg to try to compensate). So, poor boy has been living with this pain for years and will need a second surgery in 3-4 months once this leg is fully healed and his second Lyme disease and heart worm treatments are complete. 😩 Sweet boy has been such a trooper and is being cared for by our incredible friend and board member, Corinne and her family while we are away getting Cromwell. Another surgery date wasn’t available for weeks and we wanted to make sure Big Wrig was in pain as short a while as possible and didn’t have to wait. Corinne slept with him last night, made sure he had his pain medication, and bought him this sweet inflatable cone that he likes much better than the plastic one. How did we get so lucky to find such an incredible friend? Wrigley’s surgery was around $4300 (and the second one will be the same).
