I was interested in comparing job descriptions from now to those from previous decades. I was looking for IT work in particular. It seems as if this is an understudied issue, but I suspect generational entry level job are increasing due to technical debt.
I don’t have any good sources of job description as of yet, but simply counting the requirements and estimating the amount of years to complete each (and averaging to a standard for the decade) should be a good methodology depending on how complete the job description is assumed to be.
I’m not going to push to print any of this, but will put it in preprint form on ResearchGate or something. I was just curious enough to see if I could pull together a study on evidence of technical debt in job descriptions from random stuff I found on the internet (which more or less failed). So now I’m requesting any dedicated sources of old job descriptions that you know of, so I can get something together on it.
