The fact that Sally is transgender isn't relevant to the story, so it is never brought up; but it isn’t hidden from the viewers either. Compare this to shows that overemphasize the gender and sexuality of the character, to the detriment of both the story and the character.

Watching the @disney documentary #wakingcinderella and found out that #partofyourworld was almost CUT from #thelittlemermaid ! I felt my chest tighten and tears come to my eyes 😢 This is my favorite Disney film, I saw it 4 times in theater that summer, I sang that song 3 years in a row at the school talent show, and of course went as #Ariel for Halloween several time. This movie and especially this song is such a part of me. This is just another strong reminder of how important #representationinmedia is. There aren't a lot of red haired blue eyed girls in the world, seeing as how they are both recessive genes, but because a movie I saw myself represented in made me feel special, it helped me through all of the times I was bullied for my looks.
