#day82 of #100daysofmusicproduction - got some work done before going to #therewillbenointermission by @amandapalmer in the National theatre in DC. It was a weird but insane loop of an #fbf to when I played with her on stage back in 2013 - thanks to @yankylosaurus @yanbourkephotography and @cianoceallachain for these! Since then so much has happened and much of her show was raw and deeply personal. I cried a lot. Most of my makeup is gone. She had a wildcard to play opening chords of "coin operated boy" whenever somebody yelled "AMANDA, I'M SAD" 🤗 this happened a LOT. . It was over four hours discussing terminal illness, a miscarriage alone, abortion, #repealthe8th, reproductive rights, death, motherhood, and how much people don't tell each other. It was amazing, people were friendly. Amanda had a giant box of tampons which she periodically threw out to the audience, in the direction of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, and sometimes dipped in wine and distributed. Because "she was bleeding anyway" (same, Amanda) . It was inspiring and when I thought she couldn't do anymore she strode back out with only a cape and a ukelele and played "ukelele anthem" ➡️🎥🎶 I ended up writing a bunch and releasing a lot I didn't expect. . Lot to process. Main thing is that compassion is complex, challenging and often comes from places you would never expect, while at times actively withheld from places you would presume. . Bonus video from 2013 of bathroom jams because I couldn't include it in this post 🎤 . . . . . #amandapalmer (at National Theatre Washington, D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv5uXlEHIYL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1nhdnqbenl364
