nobody wants to talk about abortion, much less SING about it. 

but i’ve been out on the road, trying. i was just uninvited from irelands biggest TV chat show, the late late show, for pushing back when they asked me to play a song about abortion. given that the north JUST legalized abortion, this is EXACTLY the time for this kind of art. but they’re afraid. 

they shouldn’t be.

Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say “no, you move.”

With what’s going on in the US, I thought I’d post this picture I from when I went to Europe with my dad since he went home to vote to Repeal the 8th.

Thinking of Savita and all the women who suffered due to the 8th Amendment over the years. This mural has become a shrine to her memory, with dozens of moving messages reflecting on the result of yesterday’s referendum.

Today we have a much clearer picture of Ireland. The resounding decision to repeal the 8th and give women control over their own bodies feels like a sudden shift. But in some ways, it’s more like a fog has finally lifted, and we are seeing the true shape of our landscape for the first time, a landscape that has been obscured for so long.

so, yeah.

also, fuck america. our country is literally going in the opposite direction right now.

LGBT rights being recognized for most countries

Bisexuals being given more respect

Transboys, Transmen, Transwomen having their rights recognized and being respected 

Enby’s and those who are gender non-conforming being recognized and respected

Autistic people having their rights recognized and respected 

Disabled people having their rights recognized and respected

Most people just getting along with each other, learning from their neighbours offline or online about life and how to learn and grow, while also spending time with them and creating positive memories with their fellow comrades

Most people trying out new experiences, meeting new people and accomplishing goals they’ve always wanted to 

people being able to enjoy whatever piece of media or art from any decade as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone 

Science making some black mirror esque technology and making aliens and robots feel welcome if they are finally given a chance to join humanity

Animals being protected and reserving the one piece of the world we will always try to shelter from capitalism...Nature

Brian May possibly making that space concert from that old Barbie movie a reality

The Cure making new material 

ABBA making new material

that Labyrinth/Bedknobs and broomsticks musical being released 

the “scene” subculture to make a comeback

smashing the state, ending the tories for good, yeah I might not believe in everything labour says but a government ran by them would be far better than the one we’re in now and making sure our voices are heard
