The Interior Department said the algae is residual after supply lines sat dormant for weeks.

The newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool seems unable to escape an old scourge: algae blooming in the shallow water.
Thin layers of algae floated on the World War II Memorial side of the pool Friday morning, even after workers were seen cleaning out algae from the bottom of the pool Wednesday.
The reflecting pool construction project started in April and work was completed last week as part of President Donald Trump’s sprawling plan to spruce up the capital ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The president has characterized the century-old pool as “filthy” and “dirty,” claiming that the pool would look “far more beautiful, more beautiful than it did in 1922” upon renovation.
An Interior Department spokesperson said that the current algae is “residual” from supply lines that sat dormant for eight weeks during construction. The residue is part of the normal startup process, the spokesperson said.
As part of the project, NPS also invested in a new nanobubbler filtration system, while a dedicated crew will also maintain the grounds from wildlife.
Tiles arrived today! Ignore the white glue stuff, it’s part of the packing (I think), and it comes off easily. I love the colour and texture variations.
We’re sort of at this paused point with the renovations. We’re waiting on the cabinetry to be finished and then installed for the living room, and once that’s done, the living room flooring can be done. After that, the final measurements get taken for the kitchen cabinetry and then it’s waiting on that cabinetry and the builder’s availability.
We have everything except a sink tap and filtered water tap - our spare room has a sink, oven, cooktop, rangehood, cabinet handles, ceiling lights, and now tiles. All the colours for the bench top and cabinets and living room flooring and wall paint have been picked out.
We’re gradually clearing out the bookshelf and TV cabinet to move and sell - some things have gone on FB marketplace (the Wii sold super quickly!), others to the opshop and local buy nothing group.
I feel like once things start happening, they’ll happen all very quickly, but for now I’m getting kind of impatient.
He was totally not hiding behind the coffee pot when Tommy entered the kitchen.
Unsurprisingly that didn’t work. Tommy spotted him the moment he came through the door. He stalled almost imperceptivity when he saw him. Buck was pretty sure no one else had noticed, but he had, because it was Tommy and Buck couldn’t ever not look at him.
“Morning Evan,” Tommy said, sounding as if the last time they’d seen each other hadn’t been Bobby’s funeral several months ago.
“Hey Tommy,” Buck aimed for the same unbothered tone. “Did you want coffee?” He picked up the put to fix Tommy a cup without waiting for the answer.
“Yes, please.”
Buck prepared the coffee the way Tommy liked it and tried not to notice that Tommy was happily chewing on one of his muffins when he handed him the mug. That’s what he had brought them for after all, for people to eat and enjoy them. Tommy liked sweets, so of course he would like them. Nothing special about it.
The butterflies that had taken up residency in his stomach during that hurricane a year and a half ago and refused to die didn’t care.

I don't know what's going on with this 1911 home in Spokane, WA, but I do love before & after photos. This house sold in 2019 for $900k.
The new owners completely redid it, and in 2021 the 5bd, 4ba, 5,520 sq ft home was sold for $1.15m. It was recently relisted for $1.212m, but was taken off the market. Check out the before & after.
Above is the original, below is current. So, the change they made to the entrance hall is basically a cleaner look. The home is a lovely Craftsman style.
They also gave the inglenook a more defined look- the original decor was light and frilly. I think that it's more Craftsmanlike this way. What do you think? I mean, they didn't ruin it at all with the reno.
I'm leaning toward liking the redo much better. The library looks fabulous.
They left the painted dining room, but gave it a level of sophistication and took away the wallpaper and multi-color pastels.
The old and new sun room decor. This was a very skillful redo.
What do you think of the new green kitchen? I love the flooring.
This is so well done. Look at the chef's stove and backsplash.
Beautiful pantry.
The bedrooms look very different, but this will give you an idea of how the decor was changed.
I don't know if they were made smaller, but they've been tastefully decorated with less florals, etc.
Actually, I like both baths. The original has vintage fixtures and the renovated one has a reproduction sink and a new shower, plus teal tile.
The old rec room and the new, complete with a full size wet bar.
The old pergola in the yard and the new one. Well, I have to say that I really love the renovation. They did a great job. To see all the before and after photos, click on the links below:
"... He is holding a cat." while the theme song plays and scuffling/fighting sounds happen in the background will NEVER not get me pumped :D Like we won!! Yes Cecil!!! Erika!!!!
