Mission Accomplished
5 years ago I️ was told that my cancer was in CRU - Complete Remission Unconfirmed. Basically there was no trace of cancer, but they can’t really confirm that its totally gone with blood cancer. If its going to recur it usually happens in the first 5 years. So we waited... we traveled and celebrated and got married and waited. Every year there was a clean scan we got a little closer. Today I️ got the results of my 5 year PET scan.
My oncologist said that I️ am in complete remission and most probably cured.
It’s been an emotional day. We celebrated by having lunch at the diner we went to after I️ was first diagnosed. We dropped in on the doctor that originally caught my symptoms as something bigger and gave her a hug. We got manis and pedis and massages. We went out to dinner at a fancy French restaurant. We reminisced about the journey through hell that we both went though and we remembered the friends that didn’t make it to this point. It’s been an emotional day.
I️ originally named this blog as a play on Mission Impossible. My mission was to get to remission.
So I️ guess... Mission Accomplished

It’s official!!!! I saw my oncologist today. My scans are clear. My blood work is decent. Doc is pleased with my progress!!!!
