One of the struggles we see in working with couples is the lack of clear, focused, and compassionate communication. For few or many reasons, we hold back or suppress communicating our emotions, needs, desires, and even fantasies. At the same time, we have little awareness of our personal core values and boundaries. An eye-opening moment for the couples we work with is for them to witness how little they know about their own and their partner’s core values and boundaries. This lack of awareness leads couples to confusion, misunderstands, and miscommunication. Communicating our core values (what we consider the most important in all areas of life) and our boundaries are essential to maintain the wellbeing within the relationship. For many, communication is not a natural and easy skill to practice, but it is a vital one to create conscious relationships and intimacy.
