On day 5 of #jamuary2020 I used the @weareelektron #digitakt to record some semi-random notes and chords on the @yamahasynths_official #refacecp. The #reface goes through the @chaseblissaudio #thermae, which adds the #lofi warble to the #piano sound. I then shuffled the recorded #samples and added a #beat to it. I ended up using the same piano samples 2 more times, on day 12 and 20. Day 30 of #jamuary2020. I wanted to include the @yamahasynths_official #refacecp with the rest of the setup. The CP has a secret #acousticpiano mode which sounds good, albeit quite harsh and digital. So I decided to run it through the @chaseblissaudio #thermae at 100% wet for some sweet #analog noise and a bit of #modulation, and later I turn up the repeats of the delay. Also, I’m sequencing the CP with the @weareelektron #digitakt, and I’ve set the velocity to a very low amount (15%-20%), to get to a softer sound for the piano. I had fun playing with the #microtiming on the Digitakt - not every drum hit is quantized, although it’s quite subtle. The #prophetrev2 is on bass duty. Day 23 of #jamuary2020: more deep #ambient! I thought it might be interesting to hook up the two stereo outputs of the @yamahasynths_official #refacecp to separate pedals: @chaseblissaudio #blooper and #mood. I’m using Blooper as a pitched (+1 octave) #reversedelay, by setting the repeats close to zero and using the “stepped speed” mod. In additive mode, this setting adds additional pitches when turning up the repeats, like a #shimmer effect. The MOOD is set to basically the same setting using the “slip” #effect (reversed, pitched +1 octave), but it responds a bit differently to the input signal, and I’m also using the “stretch” #loop mode for #infinite sustain and more interesting pitching capabilities by tweaking the “clock”. I’m using the #digitaldelay effect on the Reface CP as a #microlooper (it has a max delay time of about 2.5 seconds) : with the volume off, I play a chord using a #sustain pedal (off-screen), then I enable the delay and slowly turn up the volume to feed the delay. Finally, I’m using two types of shimmer on the @sourceaudio #ventris: one that’s pitched an octave down (most prominent) and one that’s +1 octave. This time I decided to use retriggers to make some #glitch / #stutter effects and played with sample tuning. I could have gone much more extreme, but I enjoyed this laid-back feel.
