#REEEEEAL #i chose the second one bc it was truly what i was feeling. like auhg. so Good #you know pkmn fans keep bringing up the whole illusion of choice thing #aka dialogue options don’t matter sometimes #but that’s missing the point #it’s always been linear storytelling in the series sometimes they want the conversation to go one specific way #but giving the player those ‘options’ is a way of charactering *them*#which is to say this; in words; is what’s on their mind #even if it’s phrased the same way both times (which it isn’t always!)#giving you the dialogue bubble puts it in front of you #but even more fun when the options are thematically or tonally different #like in this choice here #the three options all feel quite different to me #of course it doesn’t materially matter but since when does materially mattering matter?#it’s like #that’s one time where it isn’t the player character choosing it is you as the player choosing #what do you wanna say…#sorry i think about these things a lot i love dialogue stuff in video games #asks #whoelsewillihaveicecreamwith #pokémon #legends z a #plza spoilers
