he is careful to keep his expression impassive. you could never make me feel just any one thing, he wants to say, wants to tell her that the whisper of her presence is enough to make him feel every emotion he has ever known and some he dares not name, but he does nothing more than run his gloved thumb along his fingertips to keep from reach out to trace the little tendril of hair that has worked itself loose and frames the shell of her ear.

“don’t be ridiculous,” he says, careful to look at the middle distance between them rather than directly at her. it’s easier. safer. “i’m annoyed, not nervous.”

the dull roar of the bond activating was a sound - or lack of sound - that rey had found herself getting used to. if she really tried she could still hear the creatures in the trees around where she sat cross-legged, but instead of the green planet she had made her temporary home all she could focus on was the stillness of the soft dark waves in his hair even as her own almost-curls twitched in the breeze. 

she rolled her eyes pointedly, telling herself she was just as exasperated by the interruption to her day as he was and that the soft thud that sped in her chest was just because it had startled her. she absolutely had not been waiting and thinking of the next time that she and ben would be connected by the strange connection that only they shared. 

right now, that project is poe. ben’s lips flutter over his jaw, up the slope of his cheek, across his temple. he retraces his trail and circles back to brush a kiss over poe’s mouth, pausing for the briefest moment before he snatches away again. he’s not normally this prone to gentle, teasing kisses, but he’s in the mood for slow.

“someone forgot to shave.” his lips barely graze poe’s throat and he’s surprised to find he’s smiling. “that’s okay. i don’t mind.”

Poe honestly doesn't mind becoming the project , not when it means being the center of attention for Ben . he sighs at the way the other presses lips over his skin , tilting his head back and letting himself just stretch out slowly . it's RARE for the other to be like this , to tease him and be so slow .

Poe is lucky enough to catch a kiss on the lips , chasing for a second for another one and giving up when those lips find his throat .

“You might want to rethink your technique.” = “Dinner and wine would have worked better.”

𝐑𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐑𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, only to dodge the dodgiest of people on her run away from them and the guards. The opportunity had been far too good to pass up; the idea of finally having the funds to get anything she wanted too good to let go. The idea was to use it to secure her future, find her family and live happily ever after. Oh, if only fairytales would come true. No, she was just Rey from the orphanage, who refused to be who she truly was because that had always seemed puny an idea to her. Kira; that was what she had chosen for herself and that was how it would forever be.

More running, through bushed and past tree with that darn creature behind her. Was it ever going to give up and let her just slip away? It had been hard enough to get rid of the two buffoons she’d been forced to work with. No, she’d manage just fine without them. Somehow Rey slipped, fallen down a cliff and only then manage to finally get rid of the last person to chase her. Instead there’d been a curtain of green; leaf after leaf cascading down like a waterfall made to hide the biggest of secrets. Somehow that had been exactly what it has done.
