Day 1 #mayvinylchallenge #oldestrecordinyourcollection Arthur Tracy - Play To Me, Gypsy! b/w Home On The Range 1934. Old-timey style singing, the kind done in parlors. āLove Will Tear Us Apart,ā a single by Joy Division
Uncredited design and artwork by Peter Saville, Ben Kelly, and Trevor Key
Factory Records
āļø ARTWORK
Factory Records released āLove Will Tear Us Apartā in June 1980. Pictured is the uncredited sleeve and label artwork by Ben Kelly and Peter Saville for the UK 7ā vinyl sleeve. [1]
The words of the song title had been etched upon a sheet of metal, which had subsequently been treated to a process of ageing with acid before being left exposed to weather with the intention being the resulting appearance of a slab of stone. [2]
A conversation with Kelly is now streaming on Art of the Sleeveās Spotify podcast (# 19). The designer talks about his new book āHaƧienda Landscapes,ā as well as his experiences working with Factory Records, Sex Pistols, and OMD.
