thank you, i managed to mask the layer that way but it's still black and white. >< do i have to put an original color on the black and white before adding the hue/saturation layer? [e.g for the blue jeans do i have to put a blue color first before the hue/saturation layer?] i am so sorry for troubling you
You donât need a color below it, just make sure you have colorize checked (see bottom of image) :)
Not an edit request, but could you make a tutorial as to how you do the color swaps? Or is there a tutorial video you know of that I can watch? Thanks :))
I can try my best to kinda explain! I canât do a video and I never watched any videos myself, so itâll all be text and screenshots! Iâll put it under the read more!

I know this may sound stupid, but how to do recolour your hairs because if I was to recolour a hair or piece of clothing in WMS's massive palette it would take me like an hour! Do you have any tips and tricks? :)
Hey, no question is stupid! When I was starting out recoloring I was confused by the smallest of things. And Iâm learning more every day, honestly. So I definitely have a few tips and tricks for you, and anyone else new to recoloring!
Note:The fastest way to recoloris with Photoshop actions. I donât think thereâs any way to use actions withgimp, so you need Photoshop. You can find a link to download the WMS actions Here. And there are plenty of places to get free (legal, even!) Photoshop, if you dosome digging on the internet. Just be safe.Â
Other note: I kind of go by fast here for some of the basic steps. If youâre confused by anything @cubersims has a very lovely hair recoloring tutorial Here that goes a bit more in depth. What Iâm doing is a bit more of a âhow to recolor quicklyâ plus a few tricks rather than a real tutorial. If you have any questions about that tutorial, please ask me about them as cubersims is currently on hiatus. That said, letâs move on!
How I Recolor My Hair
1. First you need to find a base that will work. Generally youâre fine with using the âwhiteâ hair swatch. Export that and open it in Photoshop.Â
Sometimes CC hair has too light or dark a white base, doesnât have maxis match hair colors, or is child hair that doesnât have that swatch. When this happens find the Dirty Blonde swatch, if you can, and use the Hue/Saturation tab in Photoshop and set it to these settings:Â
WMS Hair Recolor Tutorial!
Iâve gotten a couple of requests to do a tutorial on how i do my recolors, so here you go!!Â
Also, this is what i do when recoloring, you donât have to do the exact same thing, everyone has their preferences!
And be prepared!! This is a VERY detailed tutorial!!
If you have any questions about the tutorial, or if thereâs anything you donât understand, pls send me a dm! :D
