It’s really fucking sad when people who claim to care about a topic don’t actually want to do what they gotta do to change the issue. I have more knowledge than the average layperson on what the actual science is behind changing peoples actioned biases, I would actually venture I probably have more knowledge on it than many people who work in the field as a lot of the information is outdated and I have direct access to new research.
It’s just so fucking deeply sad how few people want to actually do the work to look at what helps, and instead just want to be angry. No wonder we’re all so stuck.
Like, I get it, there are certain issues I’m too impassioned on to be able to chill out, but I’m at least self-aware enough to be like “yeah I don’t want your advice because my emotions won’t let me practice it”. Maybe that’s a lot to ask of anyone, but the people who are supposedly socially conscious at least should cultivate the skill of understanding the difference between what feels good and what works.
I have one particular identity that I’m not going to disclose bc it’s nunya, but I know I can’t be objective with it. I get riled like nothing else because it’s the place where I store the most pain. But what we all gotta understand is everyone is reacting to avoid pain and discomfort.
If that’s all you want to do then you’re just part of the problem.
Stop acting just to protect yourself and start practice doing things for the community. We want to build community, so be part of building it.
For the love of the gods stop calling people out and start inviting people in.
