Review of Ready or Not - Here I come

Saw this yesterday and I gotta say, I don’t really agree with most of the takes I’ve seen. I already knew the second one didn’t land that well for a lot of people, but honestly, I still had a really good time with it.

Yeah, the first movie felt fresher and overall probably stronger. The sequel doesn’t have that same surprise factor anymore. It’s not as new or exciting, but I still found it entertaining the whole way through. I was pretty much locked in the entire time.

You also kinda have to be fair here. How do you even continue this story in a meaningful way when the first one was basically wrapped up? For what it is, I think part 2 does a decent job. It picks up right where the first movie left off and expands the lore around the cult a bit more.

And yeah, it’s completely over the top. The stuff these two women go through and the fact they just keep getting up, running, and fighting back is ridiculous. But let’s be real, this is a horror comedy about a satanic cult where people explode. I’m not going into this

I really think this one depends on what you expect going in. If you want something that tops the first movie or continues the story in a super clever way, you’ll probably be disappointed. But if you’re just here for that chaotic mix of horror, dark humor, and insanity, it definitely works.

The cast was also really solid. Especially Buffy, I mean Sarah Michelle Gellar, she stood out the most to me. Samara Weaving is once again perfectly cast and continues Grace’s story really well. Shawn Hatosy also caught my attention in a good way.

And Elijah Wood was just great 😂
