“ i can't stop. it's what i am. “
** villain / hero sentence starters
Julian’s never been particularly afraid of spiders. They’re usually rather small and tend to keep to themselves, and while he’s not sure if there’s anyone out there who would find getting a face-full of spiderwebs while out on a walk (or while treading lightly in the back-halls of one building or another) - it’s not the worst thing he’s experienced.
Being confronted with a series of human-sized cocoons, however, is... certainly higher on that list. And being confronted with the woman who had, clearly, made said cocoons? Top three, for sure. Gods. People aren’t supposed to look like that, all chitin and-
He really hasn’t been caught before. He’d be embarrassed if he weren’t terrified. But there’s an exit, isn’t there? She’s talking. It’s really rather reminiscent of a villain’s speech from some sort of book - again, if he weren’t terrified he might find it strange - and, well, he’s rather good at talking his way out of situations if people let him.
Or he might end up a cocoon. Who can say!
"We are what we are,” he starts, glancing back at the cocoons. Oh, gods, did one just move? He does a very good job of not reacting. “But we all have the gift of choice, don’t we? We can change, even if it’s just in a very small way...”
Julian is very much regretting his choices, at the moment.
