I very much enjoy Mariel of Redwall. Got me into more of the books I could find at my library.
If I had the funds, I'd have a new animated adaptation based on the book. I mean, an amnesiaic character would be a bit cheap to get exposition out but it would be user-friend to those who never got into Redwall.
Like it'd be three seasons. Done by the same production team that brought "Mattimeo" and "Martin The Warrior" to animation with PG rating to allow for more depictions of violence.
The first would rearrange some scenes so we focus on "Storm" first and her trek to Redwall where, through her, we learn about the current era of the place. Gabool would be held off until she recovers her memories slowly, cutting to Terramort where we learn the mark she left on him.
That chapter would also be adapted with limited animation, almost like an animatic of illustrations that become more defined and animated. Sort of a way to show how Mariel is slowly recovering her mind and soldiering through her trauma. Think how Evangelion originally ended on minimal animation but artsy work-arounds.
Additionally, Graypatch's siege on Redwall would occur while Mariel is still at the abbey and has her bond with those living at the walls in protecting them, her and Dandin growing as a battle couple. The Long Patrol would be sort of their mentors, even dying as the archetype goes.
Mariel would fear that more of Gabool's subjects would come for Redwall and set out to stop him in addition to finding her father.
The Second Season would expand on her journey to the sea with a bit more episodic pace to it paired with the running subplot of Gabool's force pitted against each other.
Right before Season 3 ends on the final push with the TRAG Warriors. It would especially give Rawnblade more time to connect with the central characters like training Mariel and Dandin for their destination.
Though when it comes to the final battle, while Rawnblade would be the one to finish Gabool, I feel like Mariel should still play a big part in the warlord's downfall. Say... she strikes the bell that has been driving him mad with her Gullwacker serving enough force for multiple rings. The last of his sanity leaving him, he's brought down at last.
