#raw specimen

Eurasian Magpie, subadult male.

I love macro photography and I wish I could get even closer to the details inside this raw opal specimen. It makes me think of nebulas.

Some new animals to work on tomorrow! M.agpie was from pest control, s.quirrel was roadkill (given to me by @glasswingedvulture!), and the f.erret was a working f.erret that died of old age.

They're all frozen solid right now but once they're defrosted, I'll get to work on them! I'll be cleaning all the skulls of them, preserving the wings + feet of the m.agpie, and skinning the f.erret and s.quirrel for their pelts. Ideally I'd like to mount the f.erret but that'll depend on how well the skinning goes
