The entrance to the imposing Mehrangarh Fort is guarded by a series of seven famous gates. To the left of innermost gate, Loha Pol, or āIron Gateā, are 15 small handprints left by the wives of the maharaja before they immolated themselves on his funeral pyre. Known as sati marks, the gilded handprints most likely date back to the 1843 death of Maharaja Man Singh. The custom of sati has ancient origins in the Hindu faith, and was practiced widely in the Rajasthan area. Wives were dressed in wedding finery to join their husbands in death as an act of devotion and faith, usually within a day of his death. In 1731, following the death of Maharaja Ajit Singh six wives and fifty-eight concubines placed themselves in the funeral fires. The practice horrified early western colonials, and it was outlawed by the British in 1829, but was not officially condemned by the Indian government until 1987 when they passed the Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, in the wake of a well publicized sati death. The last recorded case of sati in Jodhpur was in 1953. #Sati #ą¤øą¤¤ą„ #Tales #Legend #Devotion #Faith #Hinduism #DeathOverDishonour #Rajput #Rathore #Rajputana #Maharani #Princess #FuneralPyre #Historic #Heritage #Mehrangarh #Jodhpur #JodhpurDiaries #JodhpurJournal #Rajasthan #India #Wanderer #Wanderlust #Travel #Travelogue #TravelDiaries (at Mehrangarh Fort) https://www.instagram.com/p/BlI3JeoFXSh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hg56g83b7h4a

Get Skilled or Get Left Behind šā”
Jaipur, we have a vibe shift.
At the Rajasthan Vishwakarma Skill University convocation (Birla Auditorium, April 22), Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore didn't just give away degrees to 556 students. He dropped some serious life lessons. š¤
Hereās the gist for your timeline:
š”Ā āYour life is just starting. What you do with your skill now = Your identity.ā
š”Ā āDynamic world? Either BE the change or STAY ready for it.ā
He talked about PM Modiās vision:Ā Skill, Re-skill, Up-skill.Ā Itās not a one-time exam. Itās a forever process. The world is literally waiting for Indiaās youth.
š§Ā NDA flashback:Ā He learned welding, architecture, AND computers in the army. Moral of the story? Go multi-dimensional. Don't be a one-trick pony.
š¢Ā To the students:
Donāt fear failure. (It grows you.)
Keep massive targets.
Listen to your parents. (Itās hard work raising you.)
And the final punch?Ā Swami Vivekananda:Ā āArise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.ā
So, whether you are a grad or just scrolling ā Keep learning. Keep failing. Keep levelling up. š

Cabinet Minister. Rajasthan Government. Olympian. And now, launching theĀ āPandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Training Mega Campaign 2026.ā

šĀ Mark your calendars:
šļøĀ March 28, 2026 ā°Ā 4:50 PM Sharp šĀ Siyaram Marriage Garden, Lalchandpura, Jaipur (#Jhotwara)
This isn't just a political event. Itās a masterclass in grassroots ideology.
Be there. Learn from the best. Build the organization.
Everyone is cordially invited.Ā Donāt miss it.
"Take the money from me. Just build the damn ramp."
Ever heard a politician say something that actually made you stop scrolling?
This is one of those times.
Rajyavardhan Rathore,Ā Olympic medalist & Sports Minister of Rajasthan, lost his cool in a meeting. Why?
Because basic ramps for divyang (differently-abled) athletes weren't built.
And then he said this:
"Build ramps for the divyang. Even if you have to take the money from me, build it."
Mic drop.
This isn't just anger. It's a refusal to accept excuses (not even "budget issues") for excluding people.
It reframes accessibility from a "favor" to a non-negotiable RIGHT.
Think about it:
For a wheelchair user, a ramp = freedom.
It's the difference between being a spectator and a participant.
Between dependence and independence.
Yet, we build inaccessible worlds every day.
Rathore's outburst is a masterclass inĀ empathetic leadership.Ā It's about feeling outrage when policies fail on the ground.
Itās a reminder that true "vikas" (development) is only real when it includes everyone.
No more excuses. Just build the ramps.
