hey you know how soldiers beg for their mothers and nurses are mistaken to be those mothers while helping them get comfertable/heal?
yeah well, ratchet, first aid, knockout, all of them, but im most familiar with ratchet.
im pretty sure nearly everyone that has been in the feild and survived has had a moment like that, bringing out some name that they associate with near absolute safety to cling and grab onto while they slowly die. and ratchet/other medics either oblige or stay silent while working to repair what they can or make it comfertable to pass on. theres a LOT of big names that have called out to ratchet thinking hes their mentor, close freind, conjux, or Amica, screaming or mumbling, and stuff.
personally, ratchet does not like being thrusted into a parental role, but its very easy for him to willingly be there. its why hes so distinctly gruff and surface-level seems distant to people, its just at one point it really gets to someone when a bot is begging you to make it stop/help/or begging for someonr no where near them, or ratchet remembers helping those they call for pass on long before meeting them.
at this point im just rambling, but how many people does he recognize in general because their names where the dying words of a lost mech, and he doesnt even remember their names cuz they weren't coherent enough to give him one?
how many pairs has he come across in different points in time but meeting the other half way later?
how many people has he had to say "im sorry, but..." when the other half is trying to look for them in the so called peace time, the hope of finally seeing their partner (of any type) again and getting the news from an old grizly medic tht their Simply Not Alive.
