As far as long running anime is concerned, I'd say Precure/Pretty Cure is home to some peak villains/antagonists.

When I was around 10 or 11 years old—a few years shy of a bloody decade ago—I watched Smile Precure (a.k.a Glitter Force but I don't prefer to refer to it as that any more) and I had the biggest crush on this jester looking guy called Rascal.
Now at the big ass age of 19 years of age where I've learned and grown as a human being, I've just downloaded 2 yandere visual novels with jester characters. Essentially I've come to the conclusion that things will just never really change.
[Seriously though I love these games so much. If you liked The Freak Circus then Kingdom of Marionettes will really do it for you. Both absolutely wonderful and soulful games.]
kills you
Sigh... It's always the fucking jesters...
Mistakes into miracles or whatever

@averytiredcatboi I'm your Precure Secret Santa @precuresecretexchange exchange partner thingy :]
Twas stoked to see your list; Glitter Force was one of my first animes, and so I still hold Smile Precure to a high regard in my mind. Joker truly is a fascinating character :3
As for small details in the drawing itself, there's really only the playing cards being representative of the Doki Doki cast. In my mind, Joker has just zapped them into some cards (I'm pretty sure he did that in Smile anyways, yeah?)
I hope you have a lovely holiday season, and a happy new year :]
A large, Imposing ship flew into view.
It had a large symbol on it as it approached your ship.
@remnants-of-the-armada
Miles was learning how to fly the ship but seemed like that training was going to get paused.
“Oh Miles, we have company! We continue later.”
“I have eyes, let’s just see what they want.”
Miles pulled out a mic and began speaking to them.
“Are you a hero or a villain in need of our services? If you’re a hero we’re going to strike you down.”
Oh so you like the jester. The character whose entire thing is creating a mask of their personality, entertaining their audience with pre-planned quips. The one who probably carefully created the version of themself that others see….
no no I’m not implying anything *cough* *cough*
