contender for @crapbirdphotography because of the heat shimmer blur, but hey! got these beauties in my garden today as well...pair of Golden-breasted Buntings, a local rarity!! they also make the home/garden list a whopping 109 species! ☻

I finished up this red fox skull, which happened to be a bit wonky. I took him last year after a landowner had dispatched him. Didn’t look noticeably off from the outside, that is until after I had skinned him out. I then realized that his eyes didn’t quite line up together. And now that the skull is complete, I can see that 1) his teeth don’t quite come together perfectly and are misaligned, 2) he appears to have a little damage or deformation under the eye on one side, 3) his eyes are off center as well, and 4) he also has a deviated septum, so his nasal cavity is crooked. He hardly looks “normal” when you look at him from every angle. I tried to include as many pics to show how “off” this skull actually is. The last pic is before maceration, and you can see what I noticed with the eyes.
