Yesterday in the early afternoon I was driving through New Mexico somewhere after Deming on the way back to Tucson. I noticed one very large bird I had never seen before. A little bit later I saw another. When I got a good look I figured out they were both California Condors. There are only 275 left free in the world. In the 1980s there were only 20 left. Their wingspan is 9.5’ and they weigh 20 to 24 lbs. I feel very lucky to have seen these endangered species.
