He's gotta pick the chalk pieces back up, the eraser. And get back to work.

And yet all the research and contemplation that littered the board before in his mind?

No matter how you look at it, it's starting to read out:

I WILL NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH [_____]

Like a kid being punished for breaking someone's crayons or trying to stay out for recess passed the bell…

This is stupid.

He's never had time for this--he doesn't have time for this.

But they don't fault him for it.

They don't make him feel silly over it.

"I don't know how to process this."

It's something you just have to let happen, Senku.

Tsukasa's never seen this poor boy like this

"What do I do?"

The person he can't get out of his fucking mind always wipes his tears away. Everyone else does too--nobody in this Kingdom of Science ever wants to see Senku cry.

But it feels so much better when they do that for him.

There's this tingling brightness when their thumb brushes the tears off his face and handkerchief his nose…

They're doing the same thing as Senku is.

It makes it even harder. And he'll never admit it but Senku's almost angry at how they're taking this. 

They don't sob out. They swallow hard and let Senku whimper and wail about it every goddamn time.

He doesn't use the golden words but they speak the language.

But why is Senku burning? His whole body's on fire and his eyes sting and his chest hurts so much he can't breathe…

They're just there.

And they kiss the salty streams from his eyes.

And even thought it's between the two of them there's a demand for everyone available to spend the night with Senku, and remind him that he's loved by so many. It's okay, it happens to the best of us. What matters is Senku still has them and has his family.

But when they're alone again, Senku doesn't need to apologize anymore--he never had to to begin with.

And it's bright and warm all over again.

It's even stronger than before.

And before he knows it, he hears the golden words before they can even leave his own lips. The tears flow a little slower tonight. And they're followed by embarrassed giggles and sighs. And he can't help but say he's sorry a lot, but the words are lifted up into the clouds like balloons instead.

And he's being engulfed in a light.

He's not afraid to say it anymore, and the words are sprinkled into each soft breath and gentle hum.
