It was a long flight into Finland to see Mikko, but completely worth it. Mikko has had a long streak of games, but finally has a weekend off. Luckily, the off weekend falls on you anniversary.

As you step off the plane and the crowd disperses, you finally see him. Tall, gorgeous, Mikko. Your eyes lock and his smile widens. You notice he has a sign “My #1″. You blush as he drops it and runs to you. Mikko picks you up and spins you around in his arms.

“God, I missed you.” He breathes, setting you down gently.

You keep your arms around his neck and stay on your tip-toes, “Prove it.” You smirk.

He leans in and kisses you sweetly.

“Better.” You blush.

Mikko takes your hand and your bag as he begins to lead the way to his car.

“So, what’s the first stop?” You ask eagerly.

“Well, babe, there’s only one stop for tonight.”

You give Mikko a confused look. Although it is your anniversary, you very much expected to run around the city seeing his family.

Mikko chuckles, “Do you trust me?”

You smirk, “I suppose I do.”

It isn’t a long drive before yourself and Mikko pull up to a glass cabin in the middle of the woods.

“I didn’t take you for the camping type, Rantanen.”

Mikko smiles with a shrug, “I wanted to change things up.”

You both exit the car and enter the cabin. Inside there is only a single king size bed, mini-fridge, and a tray with champagne and strawberries.

“Mikko... This is amazing.”

“Just wait.” He smiles. “Go ahead and change.”

“What should I change into?”

“Have you ever seen a sunset turn into a sunrise?”

You blush and quickly change in the small bathroom.

When you return Mikko is in sweats, without a shirt.

“I feel over dressed.” You announce, making him jump just slightly.

“Y/N.” He says, patting the bed next to him. “Do you remember the night we met?”

You blush, “How could I forget? We were both downtown waiting for the bus, which I still never understood, you have several cars.”

Mikko laughs, “Don’t drink and drive, baby.”

You playfully roll your eyes, “Your pick up line was, ‘Where you been? Been looking for a woman like you for all my life. Knew I was falling when I looked into your eyes.’ Do you remember my clever response?”

“I know you are but what am I?”

You both smile as that became more common than actually saying ‘I love you’.

Mikko pulls you close, “Kiss me, Y/N.” He speaks, sending chills all over your body. You do as he asks. Before you know it, you’re doing a lot more than kissing. As you and Mikko collapse next to each other, he pulls you under his arm.

“Look.” He points to the glass ceiling. The Northern lights are dancing around the sky.

“Mikko, it’s beautiful.”

“I used to go outside and watch the lights every chance I got. After a game, a long day, a bad day - any reason I could. I just wanted to share it with you. This used to be my escape, now that’s you.”

You curl into Mikko closer.

The two of you enjoyed the lights, talking, kissing, making love, and just holding each other. As the lights start to disperse and the sun begins to rise, Mikko goes to his bag.

“Y/N, ever since the Monday evening we met, I knew you were something special. I knew then and there one day I could put a ring on your finger before you change your mind,” He gets on one knee. “Knew I was falling when I looked into your eyes. I’m hoping you’ll reply--”

“I know you are but what am I?” you tear up, staring at the gorgeous ring, catching the last of the Northern lights in its clarity.

“Is that a yes? My english is still eh.” He jokes.

You nod vigorously, not being able to speak through the tears of joy.
