Randyâs relationship with Billy was one he could never exactly pinpoint. At first he hated the guy for taking the one girl he had interested in off the market, and though he finally accepted Sidney and him just werenât meant to be â reversing his hatred was still a work in progress. But he knew it was something that needed to be done. He was a fixture in his main group of friends, and one he didnât expect anyone else (except for maybe Tatum) would have wanted to leave. Whether he liked it or not, Billy Loomis was going to be at least somewhat in his life for a while. And so he wanted to get used to him.
The opportunity presented itself Friday afternoon. His original plans for the night were to get obliterated to a horror movie marathon on TV with Stu. BUT, Tatum invited him over last minute. And though he wanted to be mad, he knew he would have done similar given the chance. Then Stu suggested he invite Billy over, and then he almost did get mad. But after some light convincing from his best friend, he eventually came around. The exchange was a bit awkward, most of his interactions in the past being a snarky comment or a roll of his eyes. But he did it. He actually invited him over. And, much to his surprise, he actually said yes.
Once he returned him, he started to set the finished basement up as he normally did. That morning his parents left to go on a weekend-long trip to his grandmaâs so he wasted no time unlocking the liquor cabinet. Before he brought it down, he made himself a quick drink - - if he wanted this night to go remotely well, he was going to need to be some level of intoxicated beforehand. Once he chugged it down, he brought every bottle he could grab down and set them up on top of the mini refrigerator. The marathon started in five minutes, and just as he contemplated making a second drink, there was a knock at the door. It took him a bit off guard, but it was seconds before he remembered who it was at the door.
A bit mellowed out from his first drink, he made his way back upstairs and towards the front door so he could let Billy in. He smiled the best smile he could muster and swung the door open. âHey, man.â He greeted, quickly stepping out of the way to allow him entry. âDrinkâs are downstairs, and the movieâs about to start.â
