"See, Maine, I knew it was something when you stopped inviting girls to our hotel rooms."
Marlon lay sprawled out on Jermaine's bed while Jermaine was in the mirror, picking out his perfect fro.
"Whatever Marlon," his focus never leaving the mirror. "Just don't say nothin' dumb tonight."
"Ill think about it-" Marlon quickly sat up, hearing banging from Jermaine's door.
"Maine! I heard your little lady is comin' over today." Jackie leaned against the doorframe, a smile on his face.
"ouuuuu she better be cute!" Randy pushed past Jackie, practically shoving himself into the room.
"Shut up, Randy." Jermaine threw his pic, hitting him in the head. "Im trying to get ready, and all y'all distracting me."
Jermaine was all over his room today, each lap, he had on a different outfit. His face was probably burned into his mirror from the constant want of everything being perfect. The perfect outfit, perfectly shapped fro, the brothers perfectly behaved...all for his perfect lady.
"Better wrap it up cause... she's here." Marlon was standing at Jermaine's window, pointing towards your figure. Jermaine rushed to the window to see you. Stunned, something about you always made Jermaine so head-over-heels, something very foreign to his brothers.
He watched as you were being greeted by Tito and Laytoya outside; the sunlight shone on your beautiful skin, making you more radiant than ever.
"Ouuuu! She's pretty Maine! Imma go meet her!" Jermaine suddenly snapped out of his trance, hearing Randy dart out the door. He attempted to snatch him up, but his reaction was too late, and Randy was already halfway down the hall.
Jermaine sighed, going back to the mirror, gathering himself one last time. Jackie came up behind him, placing his hands on Jermaine's shoulders.
"Relax, Jermaine, we gone have fun this evening, this is your lady..."
"Yeah Maine, what are you so worked up for?" Marlon came into the mirror's view, raising his eyebrows
"Maine, your girlfriend's here," Michael's high-pitched voice entered the room, the three of them turned their heads to the room's entrance.
"What are you all doin' in here?" he tilted his head to the side.
"Big Maine.. is nervous." Marlon chuckled, walking over to Mike, placing his arm around his shoulder.
"Shut up, Marlon." Jermaine turned to look at his younger brothers. Jackie pulled away, lightly laughing at his younger brother's banter.
"Jermaine, let's just go meet her man, you don't want to keep her waiting," Jackie spoke, walking towards the door.
Watching his brothers walk out of the room filled Jermaine to the brim with nervousness, something that doesn't even happen when they go on stage. Jermaine sighed once more, finally deciding to tail his brothers. He figured he would tighten up, not wanting to make himself a nervous wreck in front of his girlfriend and family.
Yeah naw, he aint tighten up enough.
He could hear your voice in the mix of his family's as he continued descending the steps. He began to fidget with his hands, a thousand thoughts trampling his head. Contemplating whether he looked good; what would his mother think? Does she like the house? Are my brothers being too annoying?
"You have a beautiful home, Ms. Jackson." You said, helping Ms. Katherine and Latoya set the table while the brothers washed up for dinner.
"Ms. Katherine is fine, dear, and thank you!" Her soft voice reassured you as you passed your porcelain plates. The fragile plates were cold and smooth against your fingers, something you weren't usually accustomed to.
"You know, you are too pretty! Next time you come over, you have to let me do your hair! Even makeup! or your nails! Or-" Latoya's rambling was suddenly cut off, hearing that smooth and soft voice you love.
"Hey Toya, you tryna steal my lady already?" Jermaine leaned against the kitchen arch, your eyes immediately cutting to you. Your face instantly brightened, greeting him with a smile.
"Jermaine!" You began walking towards him. His heartbeat was practically in his ears, competing with your voice.
You embraced him, wrapping your arms around his neck. He placed a quick kiss on your cheek, wrapping his arms around your waist.
You both pulled away, walking back towards the table.
"Mother," he said softly, greeting her, placing a kiss on her cheek, while she assembled the food on the table.
"It's time to get washed up for dinner, dear, your brothers beat you to it.
Jermaine lightly smiled at her, nodding his head. He grabbed your hand, gently tugging you away.
Finally getting you two in a secluded area, he turns towards you.
"Im good! Im so excited for tonight." You said, taking his hands in yours.
Jermaine grabs your face, lightly placing a kiss on your lips.
"OUUUU!" You both turned your heads, your eyes practically bulging out of your heads.
"Randy! go on," Jermaine swatted his hand at his baby brother, he literally appeared out of nowhere. A smile grew on your face, seeing it was just Randy, one of the first faces that greeted you earlier.
"Maine, I'm ready to eat, wrap up the kisses." Randy puckered his lips, making a kissy face.
Jermaine took a few steps forward as if he were going to begin chasing Randy, sending Randy scurrying to the other room.
"Sorry about that.." Jermaine looked down, turning back towards you.
"Jermaine its fine!" you reassured him. You pressed a kiss to his cheek before turning and heading back towards the dining room. All the siblings had made their way back to the table, Katherine was sitting, placing food on the laid-out plates. Jermaine was following close behind you, gunning for your chair to pull it out for you.
Just as Jermaine was about to reach for your seat, Marlon, who had been sitting in the seat next to it, suddenly stood and pulled out the chair.
"My lady," He gestured towards the seat, cutting his attention to Jermaine. The biggest grin on his face, teasing Jermaine.
"Thank you." You giggled at the little boy before taking your seat. Jermaine's mouth hung open, never taking his eyes off Marlon. The whole table began to snicker, seeing Jermaine's reaction.
"Come on, dear, take a seat." Katherine gestured to him, knocking him out of his trance.
Jermaine sat down, heat beginning to rush to his face, silly Marlon, making a fool out of him.
Dinner continued on, with regular chatter as if you were a part of the family. A lot of the focus was on you, obviously.
"So... Y/N, are you a fan of ME and my brothers?" Marlon spoke up, pointing his thumb at his chest, eyeing you down.
You giggled placing down your fork.
"Well, yeah. But my little brother has me beat when it comes to being a fan," You said, looking down at him. "he freaks out every time I tell him I'm going out to see Jermaine."
"Oh Yeah?" Michael spoke, looking up from his plate. "Who's his favorite?"
"Mike, me. Obviously." Marlon spoke up, flaring both his palms.
You smiled at the sibling banter, giggling before answering.
"Actually, he's obsessed with Tito," You started, "he wants to play guitar, if my momma gets him one..." your voice trailed off.
Tito sat back in his chair, flashing a toothy grin at his brothers.
"I like a man who has taste!" Tito said, folding his arms.
"So I'm his second favorite then." Marlon leaned to the side, trying to win you over.
"You know what, probably." You said, raising the fork to your mouth.
As the whole table continued talking, Jermaine stayed quiet; he was too busy admiring you, not subtly either, cause his plate was still full halfway through dinner.
"So, Miss Y/N," Ms. Katherine finally spoke. "How are your parents? What do they do?"
You placed your fork down before speaking, "Well, my parents are good! My momma is a nurse, and my daddy's in the army."
Ms. Katherine hummed, offering you a smile, "So it's just you and your brother at home most of the time?"
"Yes, ma'am." You started to shy away; it was something about speaking to Ms. Katherine that made you nervous- nothing like speaking to Jermaine's brothers.
Ms. Katherine placed her fork down, finishing her food before speaking again. "Well, you and your brother are welcome here sometime if you like," she softly spoke. "I'm sorry you couldn't meet Joe today, hes away for the next four days."
"Oh no, it's alright! And thank you so much, my brother would lose his senses if I told him that."
The table broke out in small giggles at your comment. You sat there and smiled, it truly warmed your heart to know how well meeting Jermaine's family was going. Eventually, dinner finished up, Ms. Katherine and Latoya stayed behind to clean up the kitchen.
You sat on the couch with Jermaine, the television offering soft background noise as Michael and Marlon sat in front of it; Jackie sitting on the couch. You leaned into Jermaine's side, Jermaine wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
"So Jermaine," Marlon plopped himself down right next to you and Jermaine on the couch "When is the wedding?"
You lifted your head off Jermaine's shoulder, looking up at him. Honestly, you were wondering too, but he doesn't know that.
Jermaine palmed his brother's face, attempting to push him away; he was already pushing his limits. Marlon pushed his hand away, continuing to please his case.
"Im serious, Maine! This is something serious!"
Michael chuckled, turning his attention towards the couch where you sat.
"Come on, Marlon, you making Maine nervous!"
"Uh, it's taken care of," Jermaine mumbled.
"What??" Marlon said, cupping his ear and squinting his eyes.
Michael scooted closer to the couch, attempting to turn the conversation. "Let's talk about the real stuff," He turned towards you. "Do you like to swim, Y/N?" Michael asked.
"I swim sometimes," You said, sitting up, Jermaine's hand sliding down to your hip.
"Well, maybe tomorrow you can come over and have a pool day with us," Jackie's smooth voice spoke up from the couch next to yours.
"Well, yes! You should, and we can wear the cutest little bathing suits ever," Toya cut in, appearing from her kitchen duties, Janet following behind her, plopping right down beside you.
"Jermaine?" Jackie spoke, requesting his approval.
Jermaine tensed up, the focus now on him. Every time he spoke this evening, he'd overthink everything; you still make him nervous despite being his girlfriend.
"Uh, well, whatever she wants to do is okay with me.." He spoke, looking at you, a smile on his face. He was starting to get hot, fidgeting with his collar.
"Oh, okay..." You nervously giggled, agreeing to the underlying request.
Toya had the biggest smile on her face; you remained her number one priority ever since she met you.
Everyone turned their attention back towards the television. Janet who was sitting next to you, looked like she had been itching to ask you a question ever since she sat down. She finally got the courage to tap you on your shoulder.
You turned towards her, greeting her with a smile. She stood up, standing in the middle between you and Jermaine's cushions. Your eyes followed her small figure.
"Okay, I have a question. Jermaine, Y/N?"
You both hummed in response, asking Janet to continue.
"So are you guys really boyfriend, girlfirend?" she continued.
Jermaine threw his head back on the couch cushion, this being the 100th dumb question his siblings asked you tonight.
"Yes.." You giggled at her question, essentially furrowing your eyebrows...you didn't know where this was leading.
"Okay, so that means you have to prove it! You have to kiss!"
Jermaine picked his head up, he could feel his blood pooling to his face felt burning hot. He would be red right now if it wasnt for his brown skin.
You and him exchanged looks before going in for a quick peck on the lips.
"Jan." Jermaine cut her fantasies short; he wasn't doing that in front of siblings, especially not in front of this drill sergeant.
Janet hummed, placing her hands on her hips.
"Fine. Good enough." Then she took off, leaving the room. Jermaine, knowing Janet, knew she was up to something, or...had something planned.
The 6 of you continued to sit in the living room; it started to get dark, meaning it was time to go. You and Jermaine were walking outside, waiting for your ride. He turned to you, grabbing your hands,
"I'm sorry about my siblings tonight, baby." He started.
"Jermaine, it's fine, like I said! I enjoyed myself here tonight." You said, leaning in. Jermaine started growing a wide grin; he couldn't help himself.
"So you coming back tomorrow?" He asked, placing one hand on your face.
"I guess so.." You shrugged, rocking back on your heels.
His hand moved to your chin, slightly lifting it up. He leaned down, kissing you, a real one this time. You melted into the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck. He finally felt all his jitters wash away, sharing this moment with you, nothing felt better. The moment was cut short when headlights created a spotlight on you both.
You both turned towards the source, staring like deer in headlights. You both pulled away, breaking out in laughter; it was your mother.
You turned towards Jermaine one last time, grabbing his hand.
"Call me tonight," he immediately said.
"I will. I love you." You said, pulling away, your hand lightly slipping out of his.
"I love you too." He whispered, watching you hop in the car with your mom.
