Like I know it sounds like I'm picking at bones rn but it is so soso interesting that Roguefort is. Grrr ghhrr. Like. Okay. Lemmie start over. I think it's cool from a character standpoint how blank most of Rogueforts expressions are.
Look at me and tell me this is anything other than completely neutral. That's not a smirk, their eyes aren't more upturned. This is a pure blank face specifically for the press. Am I late to the party? YES! BUT I DONT CARE, LET ME TALK. their embarrassed sprite?
This is nothing. The only thing giving them character is the shadow of their hat, and without it they're just barely giving an awkward smile. So many cookies have angry, excited, embarrassed, etc sprites. Roguefort gets a smile, a hand over their mouth, and a squint.
I know I know I KNOWW they are a phantom theif and the mystery is half of their shtick, but we can literally see their internal panic in the cheesecake manor mystery and this is all they give us visually. (In their source game at least. Because in puzzle world they're kinda cheering on the player, and that doesn't count, fight me) even on their concept page they're still so flat
Like, this isn't mischief, this isn't pride. Now to be fair this is from their concept page, and it also has a very silly "oops!" Face, but that's another thing. When they aren't wearing their usual emotion, they do this:
