Another annual Mermaid AU illustration! 5 years of the same ipad on the same app with the same default brush set. Developing a style sure has been a journey with a lot of struggle, but I'm happy with my progress. I think I've finally reached a happy balance between realism and cartoon-ish stylization that eluded me for so long.

Making the deadline for MerMay with only seconds to spare 💀 (on Insta lol) I grinded so hard on this. Worth it though. I’m actually hella proud, and holding it up next to the last two years to see the progress feels so much better than I thought it would 😭💕 2021 and 2020 MerMay artworks of my OCs Emilio and Rain are below. The difference is insane.
