Rail Runner Express
The light could not have been worse for this photograph, but this would be my only chance on this particular trip to shoot the Rail Runner Express, a commuter line that runs between Santa Fe and Belen, New Mexico (through Albuquerque).
This is a northbound train headed for Santa Fe (traveling away from us), as seen from alongside Interstate 25 between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The train is traveling upon the former ATSF at this point. I believe what is now a spur, in the foreground, may have been the original alignment of the line.

New Mexico Railrunner #519 by ReelCoolPhoto Via Flickr: After leaving from Sandia Pueblo, Railrunner #519 crosses the North Diversion Channel just before sunset on it's way to the next stop at Los Ranchos/Journal Center. The last southbound train to go all the way from Santa Fe to Belen was the #517 which passed an hour earlier - the #519 will stop in Albuquerque as will the last train of the day, #521.
OMG IS A F**KING RAILRUNNER!!!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy do I love heavily subsidized rail. It’s kinda crazy that New Mexico has probably like one of the best commuter rail lines in the country (although that’s not saying much tbf lmao) Despite it being pretty short, only going between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, it has the potential to expand to a much wider corridor from El Paso to Denver (although who knows if this obviously beneficial line will actually be built ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). It also seemed to serve a decent number of commuters. The seats were comfy, it had a double decker layout (which I thought was pretty cool), and the views were amazing. I rate it 8 trains/10.
