Old Man Raijinto Sketch
A sketch of my character Raijinto, but about 25 years following the end of his campaign. He's mostly gotten wiser, longer, and pointier, but still the kindhearted king he was during the campaign.
Does Siegfried, in any of it's forms, retain it's ability to attack at distant ranges with...energy? Is that what those bolts of black lightning are in game? And does the Raijinto go through similar processes of reforging? If so, what has it been in the past and does it still shoot lighting as well?
The Siegfried’s long range attack abilities are a mix of the properties of both the weapon and user. I assume in all its forms, the Siegfried is capable of letting its user perform basic magic attacks.
Its sister, the Raijinto, has gone through far less reforgings because historically, most Hoshidan kings have very often used a sword as their main hand, and these kings often took after their fathers, who also preferred the sword. Kings who didn’t prefer the sword as much still had to be a swords master anyways. The only times the Raijinto has needed reforging is if it broke, and the planning process and logistics requires a lot of care because the Raijinto is designed to last for a very long time.
There is also a Hoshidan belief that the sword, not just the Raijinto, carries the will of its wielders and reforging it would be to purge the steel of its accumulated blessings (If this doesn’t make sense, think of the Avatar State in season 2 of Korra). To deface the family sword by giving it to the wrong person or harming the blade itself is seen as an act of disrespecting the previous line of the weapon’s wielder.

So I recently acquired Raijinto from Tommeh Chu to go with my Ryoma cosplay. I decided to clear off a top of my shelf and have it properly displayed with my many Ryoma things I have around my room. Wish there was more Fates merchandise I could buy out there…..
