I have some radishes 🫜. I love them, they are great and wonderful. These ones aren’t bad but not the best either.

There's a kind of plant that exists to undo your expectations of what gardening is supposed to feel like.\n\nyou put a radish seed in loose soil and don't think about it for a week. you water it, mostly out of habit, not devotion. and in three or four weeks it's just… there. a small, round, finished thing, pulled straight out of the ground, ready to eat.\n\nno staking. no pruning. no sixty days of watching a tomato vine reach toward something it hasn't decided to give you yet.\n\nlettuce works the same kind of quiet magic. cut what you need, and more comes back, like the plant hasn't noticed it's supposed to run out.\n\ni think this is the real value of a fast crop. it isn't the radish itself. it's what it proves to you before you've earned the right to believe it: that you can actually do this. that soil responds to care, even careless, minimal, half-distracted care.\n\nwe like thinking about growing this way at vise organic too, feeding roots something light and biological early on so that first proof of concept, that first pull-from-the-earth moment, comes even faster.

I have somehow spawned a purple daikon radish! I'm hoping to save seeds and I intend to see if any offspring will also be this wonderfully purple.
