Folks! After taking the week off (December was a Lot), I'm back on radio this week for what's officially our first show of 2026 on Sunday!
Now there's a little thing I like to do that some of you may remember from past years. It's our new year's show: new year, new beginnings.
I'd love your suggestions for songs that signify new beginnings to you.
Whether this be in song meanings literally, or maybe songs that you associate with a time of change in your own life.
Maybe it's a time of change for the artist, if they were starting a new era. Either works.
You can be as detailed or anonymous as you'd like, but I want to hear from you! Here are a few examples from past years:
Last year, friends suggested Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles, Yes I'm Changing by Tame Impala, One Foot by Greentea Peng (one foot in front of another!!), Hope by vampire weekend, 3D Country by Geese (we've been Geese fans well before it was cool to), Brand New Start by Paul Weller, This Year by the Mountain Goats, the unskippable classic if you ask me. We've also had We've Only Just Begun by Carpenters and Butterflies and Hurricanes by Muse in the past.
I don't mind repeats tbh, radio is about telling the stories associated with music, so if you've got a story you don't mind me (anonymously) sharing, I'm all ears. Any and all suggestions basically, I'm open to!
Ask your friends/reblog with your thoughts because I'd love to hear what you think.
I've been hearing some lovely answers, so I will be putting them all into a playlist and will post it here after the show so everyone can, idk, enjoy the spirit of community that comes with radio whether or not you are able or inclined to listen in live
Update: here's the playlist
