Frame Materials
Frames for Three Inches and Above: The primary material used in most frames with sizes of three inches and above is carbon fiber plates. These plates are complemented with aluminum standoffs, screws, and other accessories to create a complete frame. Carbon fiber is favored for its lightweight and robust characteristics, making it an ideal choice for racing drone frames. Some frames may also incorporate CNC-machined aluminum components for specific sections of the frame.
Frame Screws: Racing drone frames commonly use screws of the two highest strength grades: 10.9 and 12.9. These grades of screws are chosen for their superior strength and reliability, ensuring that the frame components remain securely fastened.
Frames for Drones Measuring Three Inches and Below: Frames designed for smaller drones measuring three inches and below often incorporate carbon plates as the primary structural component. Some frames utilize softer materials with high deformability for the main structure. Alternatively, high-strength plastics like polypropylene (PP) may serve as the primary frame material. This choice of materials is influenced by the lower forces experienced by small aircraft, owing to their reduced weight and lower flight speeds.
