Just finished the online Equity training required by my college...
I wonder how much of what is presented is based on reproducible science vs. the incredibly bad science done by much of Psychology/Sociology or just plain social agenda. The reason I wonder is that the phrasing is similar to the garbage research produced by Amy Cuddy and many others in the field.
For those not familiar with Amy Cuddy, she was the lead researcher that invented Power Poses - a concept that performing certain poses had predictable effects on a person’s mental outlook. It went down in flames when statisticians got suspicious of the math, the research could not be replicated, and then several co-authors retracted their names from the paper. Soon after came the “Crisis in Psychology”, where it was found that between 40% - 60% of peer-reviewed Psychology papers could not be replicated.
In other words, most of what we were told about Psychology for decades is bullshit. Intersectionality, microagressions, and other terms used in the Equity training I was REQUIRED to sit through sound a lot like the same kind of bullshit.
First, you KNOW nothing about me even if you know my demographics. I’m a white male. Am I conservative or liberal? Who have I voted for the past several elections and what policies do I support? Even if you knew my age, you wouldn’t KNOW me.
Now, you could predict several things about me. Statistics is a powerful tool. When used by intelligent people that know how to is it, statistics reveals amazing things. However, when used by morons, like undergraduate college students or anyone with an agenda, statistics is Zyclon B for truth.
Heres what I *know* to be true regarding the equity topics:
- Privilege is being able to assault a police officer and when you’re shot you become a hero (Michael Brown). That’s a privilege black people have.
- Privilege is taking part in enslaving a race and evading culpability while also demanding to be believed simply because of your sex. That’s a privilege white women have.
- Privilege is being able to hit another person and destroy their property and to have people find it funny. That’s a privilege women have.
- Blacks as a group are very homophobic and racist. I was the only white kid in a black neighborhood until 2nd grade. The black kids beat me up at the bus stop almost every day because of my skin color. Korean businesses in black neighborhoods are routinely destroyed during racial unrest.
- Black tribes in Africa raided other black tribes and SOLD their captives to slave traders (particularly the Dutch). So black people enslaved their own people and sold them to white people.
- Latinos (fuck Latinx. How condescending do you have to be to tell an entire culture that their own name for themselves is wrong) are very homophobic and sexist.
- Most Mexicans are not fully Mexican. They’re of Spanish descent and they have brutally repressed the native Mexican population, which mostly lives in extreme poverty.
- Native Americans on the East Coast asked the English to help them fight against other tribes. The Iroquois, in particular, brutalized nearby tribes. Many tribes regularly raided other tribes to enslave men, kidnap children, and steal women that were given to successful warriors. In short, they raped, murdered, and stole land and people to get what they wanted.
- Black people are targeted by police. The statistics on this are unambiguous. The police harass, assault, and kill black people at a rate that defies any explanation other than systemic racism.
My point is that there are no innocent people. Women are violent, out-of-control narcissists. People of Color are violent monsters. JUST LIKE MEN! So the Equity Projects are mostly about getting power and lying to do it.
