I’ll be posting highlights from #RAAM2021 over the next few days. I will share our experiences as crew members learning from each other and our racers. Of course there were tough times, but the most important things we remember are how we made each other feel and how we bonded as a crew family and racers all together. I love this photo because it shows a bond between 2 racers that only “knew” each other for a couple months before #raceacrossamerica. They actually only met in person during heat training a week before the start of the race. In race regulations, during day time exchanges, racers have to achieve what is called a rolling pass, in which the incoming racer’s front wheel passes the rear wheel of the out going racer. By the time this dynamic duo @may_philippe and @gianniveganultra reached Colorado, they were doing a fist bump at every exchange. In the 2 man team category, the racer’s actually spend so little time with one another, it’s hard for them to form a true bond of friendship. Somehow, these 2 elite athletes figured this out on their own. Their fast pace, energetic, well coordinated passes, lead them to bond on another level, allowing them to take a few extra seconds at each exchange point for a bit of human contact. Something like a fist bump, which grew out of COVID times, transformed this team, the human touch these 2 needed to get themselves across the USA 🇺🇸 one pedal stroke at a time on each of their own 2 wheels. #cyclinglife #raam2man #fistbump #cyclingpartners #winforce #infinityseat #we_are_sungod #aquadro2 #ekoi #sworks #lakecycling #livetorideridetolive @aquachic28 @stephaniedoyle2.0 @labrat_brenna @sunnydragonfire @katarinagreer1 https://www.instagram.com/p/CRGpF1frGL0/?utm_medium=tumblr
