Weâre an unlikely bunch ... but that never stopped us before.Â
Rosemary: Logan had to come home sooner or later, and whenever he did, Rosemary was going to be there. She had gotten her things back to the apartment, with Wade's help, and had made herself a little bed on the couch. She sat there, wrapped up in a blanket and watching some TV show, not really paying attention to the plot. Her mind was all over the place, wondering where Logan was and if he would forgive her if he ever came home. No. WHEN he came home. Jubilee and Wade had both said that Logan did this sometimes after all. All she'd have to do now was wait. She nestled into the couch, holding her blanket closer to her as Beau, her little kitten, nestled onto his mother's lap for a cat nap. Rosemary would have done the same if not for the nightmares that plagued her every time she closed her eyes. She clicked through the TV channels mindlessly, skipping right over a news clip about that masquerade that was being held downtown. Rosemary really had no interest in it, and kept looking through the channels.
Wade: Wade had never really been good at dealing with sad people- he was more of a "wallow in self-pity" type himself, and he knew that wasn't the most useful advice. He figured the best plan of action was to consult someone else. Who knew them both that would be helpful here? ...Gwen and Peter were still love-shacking. Jubilee would probably start freaking out herself, what with Logan being basically her father and all. Harley? Maybe. Wade texted her a quick "come ovr 2 roses shes </3" before putting his phone away. "You haven't eaten in a while," he said hesitantly. "D'you want anything?"
Harley: It took two seconds for Harley to get up from the couch, blowing a quick kiss at Bud and Lou when they whined at her absence. Rosemary was her friend, a bestfriend in factâ Harley wasnât happy with how things had ended between them. Plus, you couldnât leave a heartbroken friend! Whatever this was bout Harley was going to help. The drive was quick and just a few moments later she was knocking on the door. âHoney, Iâm home!â
Rosemary: Rosemary shook her head at Wade's question, offering a weak smile. It was sweet of him to stick around, make sure she was okay. It meant a lot to her, more than Wade probably knew. She frowned at the sound of a knock a few minutes later- who could that possibly be? When she heard Harley's voice, she went pale, and she looked at Wade in confusion. "What the hell is Harley doing here?" She almost hissed. She hadn't really seen or heard from Harley since their falling out, other than Harley coming into Oh So Sweet and then receiving the birthday gifts. Why would she be here now?
Wade: "..I texted her?" Wade offered. "I'm not super great at helping, myself. And you were going on about how great at listening and shit she is, remember? Perfect." He hopped onto his feet, walking to the door. "Hey, boo!" he said cheerfully, kissing Harley's cheek. "You look great. Logan's MIA and Rosie's not doing so hot." he frowned.
Harley: âLogan?â Harley whispered, shooting Wade a confused look as she walked inside. Sheâd been gone for a few weeks tops! There was no way sheâd missed that much. She dropped her bag by the door and ignored the look Rosemary was giving her when she stepped around her and took the empty spot on the couch. âohh, what are we watchinâ?â
Rosemary: Rosemary stared at Wade with an expression close to betrayal. Harley was one of the last people she wanted to see right now. She frowned as Harley walked right in, sitting down beside her. Rosemary stared at her for a long moment in silence. "What the hell are you doing here Harley?" She asked quietly, not really in the mood to argue. The last thing she wanted to think about was how her best friend ran off with her psycho clown and pretty much thought Rosemary crazy for being scared of him.
Wade: "You need friends right now," Wade said flatly, recognizing the irritation in Rosemary's voice. "Even if you're pissed at her, Harley still cares about you, okay? And we're gonna take care of you til he comes back." He watched her face carefully. "Okay?" He turned to Harley to speak again. "He freaked out about commitment and ran the fuck away like a little bitch," Wade said blithely. "So we're gonna hang out here and wait for him to chill."
Harley: âTextbook male. Afraid of commitment, and running off at the first chance things are getting serious.â She turned away from the T.V. for a moment to look at Wade. âLet me guess this isnât the first time heâs done this, right?â Harley shook her head before heâd even had a chance to respond, as if she already knew the answer. Then turned to Rosemary. âWadie is right! Who needs âem when you have your bestfriends right here. Weâre like the three amigos!â
Rosemary: Rosemary just kept staring at Harley, frowning at her. "Who said you were my best friend anymore? Wasn't that ruined when I told you that your boyfriend threatened to kill me and you took his side?" She asked coldly. "And don't talk about Logan that way, not either of you." Rosemary gave both Harley and Wade a death glare, amber eyes flashing for a moment.
Wade: "I've known him longer than you have," Wade pointed out. "I like to think that means I know him pretty fucking well by now. I'm not going to pretend he's not being an asshole to you right now just cause you want me to." He hesitated, realizing the harshness of his words. "Rose, you remember how pissed you were at me with the whole...closet thing." He waved his hand vaguely. "We're here to help you. I know Logan's - don't tell him I said this- I know he's a good guy. Really, really, really deep down. He's going to come back. But right now, he's acting like a jerk, and you need to realize that," he said firmly.
Harley: rolled her eyes at Rosemaryâs comment. âYour obsession with Jay trying to kill you is getting a little old, babe. He tries to kill everyone. Imagine If I got this mad every time he tried to kill me!â Harleyâs eyes widened slightly. Sheâd be lying if she gave an exact number right now. There was no fun in keeping track. There was no point in it anyway. Wadeâs words were taken in with a nod. âWhat he said! Plus, neither of us are going anywhere so youâre just going to suck it up.â
Rosemary: "Do you hear yourself right now?!" Rosemary snapped, moving Beau from her lap and standing up, staring at Harley with still blazing eyes. "Don't you get that that's not fucking normal? Boyfriends aren't supposed to try and kill you Harley, get that through your head!" She shook her head, pushing a hand through her hair and giving Wade a death glare. "You didn't have any right to call her here. I didn't need any more company."
Wade: "Fine." Wade put his hands up in a gesture of surrender and backed away. "You want to deal with this by yourself? Fine. Have fun. If you want to wallow alone and blame yourself for this, fine. That's your choice. But don't say nobody tried to help you."
Harley: All Harley did in response to Rosemaryâs outburst was to blink a few times. This was common behavior, hellâ it was expected. Harley didnât go around expecting people to understand what Joker and her had, it was far too complicated for the normal standards. âWell, boyfriends arenât supposed to leave you behind either.â She shot back before turning to the t.v. It wasnât that Roseâs words had hurt Harley, it was the meaning behind them. Rosemary was upset because Harley had âturned back to Joker.â But this was the real Harley. And if Rosemary didnât like it, she didnât like the real her.
Rosemary: Rosemary swallowed hard, her bottom lip trembling. This was all too overwhelming. She hadn't wanted the company in the first place honestly- Wade was sweet to stay behind and keep her company, but she didn't want so much of it. "You're not wrong... he also wasn't my boyfriend and I don't know if he will be after this." Rosemary admitted, her amber eyes suddenly looking watery. Too much crying within the last few days. "I just...." She pushed a hand through her hair, closing her eyes tightly and shaking her head. "I don't fucking know, this is all a mess, and it's my fault, and I just want him to come back home!"
Wade: She was /crying?/ Shit, Wade was useless when people were crying. "Hey," he attempted to soothe. "C'mere." When she didn't immediately respond he took a hesitant step forward to hug her. "S'allright. D'you wanna, I don't know, get drunk or something? Stop thinking about it? Or would that make it worse? Sorry, I'm pretty shit at this," he rambled. "But we're staying til you tell us to leave, alright?"
Harley: Watched the scene from the corner of her eyes. Although it didnât take too long for her to huff and rise from her spot on the couch. She knew Rosemary wouldnât want to be hugged by her right now, but that didnât stop Harley from wrapping her arms around both of them. Gently slapping Wadeâs arm at his suggestion. âDonât tell her that or sheâs gonna kick me out.â She turned to Rose then. âIâm sorry. About all of it.â Her tone was soft and low, as if it wasnât really her that was talking.
Rosemary: Rosemary let Wade hold her, hiding her face in her hands. When Harley joined the embrace, Rosemary tensed, peeking up at her through her fingers. Harley's voice was soft when she apologized, which made Rosemary only cry harder as she pulled away from Wade, looking up into Harley's face. She and Harley used to be so close. She was still one of the only people who Rosemary felt she could talk to about her past and not feel like she was being pitied. She wiped at her eyes, sniffing. "I just miss you, okay? I miss the Harley I met when I first came to Star City, when you were at least half way sane." She admitted quietly. "I want my best friend back Harley."
Wade: For once, Wade really didn't have anything to say, opting instead to hum reassuringly into Rosemary's hair. He had a feeling the conflict had passed its climax now and the fighting was about to end.
Harley: This was it, this moment would make or break their friendship. Harley knew how Rosemary felt about Joker, but it would break her heart if that was the same way she felt about her. âThis is me, crazy and allâ like Wade and you still like him!â Harley nudged Wade and gave him a small smile before turning to Rosemary again. âIâm happy RoseâŠHe makes me happy.â
Rosemary: Rosemary sighed quietly, looking up at her friend. The Joker was something that terrified Rosemary, that couldn't be denied. But... it was Harley. She was one of the first friends she made in the city, and she really had missed her. Rosemary stepped closer to her friend and pulled her in for a hug, burying her face in her shoulder. "I'm sorry, he just scares me." She admitted quietly.
Wade: Wade wasn't sure if he should be insulted by Harley's comment, so he settled for giving her a faux-indignant look. "He scares everybody," Wade said matter-of-factly. "S'alright. You don't gotta talk to him, y'know? Just Harley." He was glad the two blondes had reconciled, but felt the tiniest bit insecure.
Harley: Harley decided against yelling a quick. ânot meâ that wasnât going to help the situation and it wasnât going to make Rosemary want to be her friend. âHey I know what we can do!â The run-down of the festival was playing on the t.v. Sure, Harley had plans with Jayâ but she was sure her friends wouldnât mind if he slipped out for a moment. âLetâs go party!â
Rosemary: Rosemary pulled back, wiping at her eyes and arching her brows at Harley. "Party? Where?" Rosemary frowned before shaking her head, sitting back down on the couch. "I'm not really in the party mood... what if Logan comes back? I have to be here when he does..." She glanced up at Wade, reaching out to take his hand as a silent apology for yelling at him earlier.
Wade: "She's right," Wade said, brightening. "No protesting. You can leave him a letter on the off chance he gets back while we're out. Okay? C'mon, we can get all fancy and cute and shit. It'll be fantastic. Promise."
Harley: "You're damn right, Harley's right. Come on, Rose! You love parties & this is supposed to be the biggest one of the year!" Harley crouched down in front of Rosemary, hands pressed together as she pleaded. "Please, please, please! Imagine how hot we'd look in there!"
Rosemary: Rosemary glanced between her two friends, shaking her head. "I don't even have a dress or a mask to wear to this thing." She pointed out. "I sure as hell can't afford to go out and buy one either, I spent all my cash bailing out Logan." She looked down at Harley, brows arched. "I like parties with booze and loud music and usually some idiots doing stupid shit, I wouldn't even know how to behave at some masquerade ball."
Wade: "We got you," Wade assured. "Between the two of us, I think we can have you covered. You're gonna look like a princess and it's going to be loads of fun. The best part of any fancy party is fucking with it, seriously. We can wreak havoc, Rosie!"
Harley: "Yeah, don't worry about a thing! Wade and I will do the shopping, you hop into the shower and get ready, It's gonna be so much fun!" Harley squealed as she rose, she placed a quick kiss on Rosemary's head and rushed to Wade's side to link their arms together. "You better be ready by the time we get back or you're gonna be in trouble missy."
Rosemary: Rosemary looked between the two of them for a moment before sighing. Between Harley and Wade, there was no way she was getting out of not going to this thing. "Fine just... nothing too crazy looking, okay? Something simple... pretty. Maybe off the shoulder." Rosemary grumbled, standing up again and folding her arms over her chest.
