January 4th. Voces inocentes (2004), dir. Luis Mandoki
I was around seven years old when I first watched this film. I remember I couldn't understand a lot but it had me crying my eyes out because I realised how terrible people were. It was an intense film for me when I was seven, and it is now that I'm eighteen. Maybe it's because of the things that are going through Mexico right now (this film is based in El Salvador, though) that had me thinking for awhile after it finished, and literally broke my heart and had me crying for a bit.
The film is good. The adaptation is good. The environment is good. The actings are good. Something I would change, somehow, are the dialogues and make them more central american, since it has a lot of mexican slang (though it was good for me, still: it's based in El Salvador, not Mexico) and it can be misunderstood.
I think I'm going to check out more movies like this, and if any of you has a recommendation, please feel free to send it to me.
