ok but a macbook is like, VERY necessary if you're studying design. But also yes, 100% overkill if you're studying literally anything else.
hmm, unfortunately I donât study design so I canât say much, however, (and please correct me if Iâm wrong!) from what I understand a lot of the reason Macs are so preferred when it comes to graphic design and other art fields is because Macs genuinely were the best of the best 10-15 years ago. Now most of the colleges and older employers have learned on macs and have mac based computer labs and teaching methods. Additionally, Macs are SUPER user friendly (which also makes them pretty old people friendly) so theyâre easy to use, and if 90% of your field uses them, super compatible with just about everyone youâll ever need to work alongside.Â
Iâm sure you could find a comparable software for just about anything you need to do. I have a sister who makes her living making and editing videos and does just find on a regular olâ lenovo. However, the software likely will require a little bit more fiddling from the user, and like I mentioned earlier, you might run into a few compatibility issues with other people in your field.Â
Basically, you likely can do it on a pc, but, depending on what youâre going into you might not want to hassle. Other operating systems and pcs just require a little more lovinâ to learn how they tick. (also, I fight this so hard not cause I donât believe your life in graphic design would be easier with a Mac, but because Apple is a garbage company that does horrible, no good, very bad, garbage things and everyone in every major should have hope that they dont HAVE to buy an apple product just to study what they love)
