(Quotes from One Direction fics that make me want to scream into a pillow—a continuing post series)
“Haz, do you still have that spare charger–?”
Louis looks up and freezes, fingers gripping the handle tightly with his mouth ajar.
So does Harry’s heart, probably.
He doesn’t move, not a single twitch; he can feel his body vibrating entirely from stillness. Maybe if he stays frozen, he can become invisible. Nonexistent. Might disappear from Louis’ life like a fever-dream, completely forgotten.
In the space of a millisecond, he flushes all the way down to his toes, shame prickling across his skin like a thousand needles. But not inward. Outward. Like he’s turned into a stupid cactus wrapped in nothing but lace and shiny beads.
“Are you going to say something, or are you waiting for me to spontaneously combust?” Harry asks, all in one breath.
Louis continues to ogle him in silence, like he has all the time in the world. When he finally opens his mouth, he hesitates like what he was just about to say doesn’t stand a chance against the sight in front of him. Without breaking the shameless eye contact, Louis nudges the door shut with his bum. The action is so deliberate, the air in Harry’s chest immediately gets caught in his throat.
“I’m not even gonna pretend to be chill about this,” Louis says, hands slowly sliding into his pockets as he leans against Harry’s door.
