Julian Blackthorn is an artist, we’re aware of that fact . But if he had a secret talent, it would probably be copying someone else’s handwriting.

He’s had the practice, he was secretly head of the Institute and had to pretend to be someone else in his letters to the Clave. He’s had to change whatever childish scrawl he had into something that’s similar to his uncle Arthur’s hand. And Arthur was an adult versed in history so his vocabulary’s probably quite the package.

So imagine a 14 year old Julian Blackthorn flipping through a dictionary, looking up what ‘behoove’ and ‘implore’ means because Arthur has used fancy words in his past communications. Imagine Julian Blackthorn sitting down to write his yearly petition to the Clave to bring Helen and Aline out of Wrangel Island and he has to reign in the big words and bring out some of his childish handwriting so the Clave won’t suspect him.
