There was an era that Latino Culture was ubiquitous in Silver Lake. There were of course a ton of Mexican/Cuban/Salvadereño restaurants, and there was also Latino Theater and Latino music along Sunset Boulevard. Fragments of a Latino LÁ age. Here’s the flyer for such era: A one man show written and performed by Paul Saucido (L.A. Teatro) at Glaxa Studios in March 1996. As a hook for this play entitled “A Beast in the Field,” there were also had music performances after the play (but mainly people went for the music), among them Quinto Sol (Advertised as a Funk/Rap outfit? Probably before the band took a turn to reggae), Ollín (Accordion Punk), Los Olvidados (Ska punk según eso), Las 15 Letras (acoustic!) and Aztlán Underground (indigenous Rap). Btw, L.A. Teatro was a bilingual, Latino theater troupe first formed by Cal State LÁ students in the early 1990s.
