We should have a national quiet day

Dziś był taki dzień, który niczym się nie wyróżnia, ale właśnie dlatego był dobry. Szare światło, trochę chłodu, trochę ciszy. Po południu wyszłam na krótki spacer i miałam wrażenie, że wszystko jest jakby przygaszone — nie smutne, tylko spokojne. Listopad ma w sobie coś, co sprawia, że człowiek zwalnia, nawet jeśli nie planował. I chyba tego właśnie potrzebowałam: zwykłego dnia, który niczego ode mnie nie chce.

Today was one of those days that don’t stand out at all, and maybe that’s why it felt good. Grey light, a bit of cold, a bit of quiet. I went for a short walk in the afternoon and everything looked slightly dimmed — not sad, just calm. November has this way of slowing you down, even if you didn’t plan to. And I think that’s exactly what I needed: an ordinary day that doesn’t ask anything from me.

Dzień po Halloween zawsze jest trochę dziwny. Wczoraj wszyscy biegali w kostiumach, było głośno, kolorowo, a dziś świat wygląda jakby ktoś wyciszył go jednym kliknięciem. Lubię tę zmianę — taką nagłą ciszę po całym zamieszaniu. Siedzę w pokoju, piję herbatę i patrzę, jak szare światło wpada przez okno. Nic wielkiego się nie dzieje, ale może właśnie o to chodzi. O taki spokojny reset po całym hałasie.

The day after Halloween always feels a bit strange. Yesterday everyone was running around in costumes, everything was loud and colorful, and today the world looks like someone muted it with one click. I like that shift — the sudden quiet after all the chaos. I’m sitting in my room, drinking tea, watching the grey light come through the window. Nothing special is happening, but maybe that’s the point. A calm reset after all the noise.

Today felt simple, almost uneventful but sometimes those are the days that matter most. I stayed home for most of the morning, books and notes scattered across my desk. Studying felt like a slow rhythm, not rushed, not pressured, just me trying to keep pace with myself. (◠‿◠)

By the afternoon, it was time for the airport run. We sent Mom off to Davao, and though she’ll be back on October 2, the house already feels different without her energy filling every corner. There’s a strange kind of silence when someone leaves, even if just for a little while. A gap you don’t notice until it’s there.

After coming home, the evening drifted into that comfortable stillness I’ve grown used to. No big adventures, no dramatic moments just me, curled up, scrolling through Reddit stories. Some were hilarious, some a little too relatable, and others felt like peeking into tiny fragments of other people’s universes. It’s funny how strangers’ words can keep you company.
